At 3am September 5th 2020, professional off-road triathlete Karsten Madsen started his attempt at Everesting up Into the Mystic and down Lord of the Squirrels. The planned route will see him ride 208.1km to gain the elevation of Everest (8,848m). The purpose of this event is to raise money for WORCA (Whistler Off Road Cycling Association) as they have experienced a massive budget cut this year (down to $40, 000 from a previous $120, 000). WORCA uses their budget to build... trails sustainably, respecting and protecting the surrounding environment. When Karsten made a permanent move to Whistler in 2018, he was blown away to see the hard work that was being put into the trails he was riding. He would notice new trails being dug and old ones being upgraded. It became clear to him that Whistler is the standard for trail building and that WORCA is the association responsible for, among many other things, supporting local building. If we want to continue to have the best riding, we need to support our local trail associations - now more than ever! I have been following Karsten on his journey documenting the preparation and training going into the effort. We will be premiering a documentary of this journey later this fall.
A sneak peek at a video I am working on with Karsten Madsen. Everesting is when you climb the elevation of everest in a single ride. It took him 38 laps up Kadenwood, for a total of 247km and 11 and a half hours to climb the 29,029ft.
In honor of Earth Day I had some fun with some waves. The power and beauty always amaze me.
Making it rain some more at the WPPI photography conference in Las Vegas yesterday with @willcstyles in front of the camera. Thanks to @danielwoodsvisuals and @stellaprolights for hosting the best booth at the expo. So inspired to shoot more. #wppi2020 #stellaprolights #dancer #wppievents #alwayslearning #vegas #rainmaker #dancelife #creativephotography #dancingintherain #whistlerphotographer #rainshoot @ Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino
Making it Rain at the WPPI photography Conference in Vegas this week. I was able to capture @cmmgroff in action at the rain booth with @danielwoodsvisuals and @stellaprolights.
Final Sunset of the Decade! As the sun sets on 2019, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! 2019 has been a good year and I here’s to hoping 2020 is even better! We finished the holidays in Hawaii this year and after looking for this location for years I finally found it. Sunset and wave action lined up perfectly. It wasn't until after I shot it that I realized that this is the last sunset of the decade, as Hawaii is one of the last places on earth for the Sun to set each day.
