So, this is a little long winded and I apologize for that. As some of you are aware, our current 4+1 lease is up for the +1 May 1st at Sizzlin. We have been le...asing for the past 4 years. Our landlord has instructed that he is ready to bulldoze the building this Spring, to build a bigger complex. Within the complex, a larger foot print for Sizzlin, but with a much higher lease. He does not know how long it will take and we saw how long the new gas station took to compete. In saying that, we have been looking for a new location in Meaford to buy. There is nothing available. Tried for the old Bardeaus or Blossoms building, but to bring it up to code, not including renos for apartments or restaurant, the price was way to high. Without a partner, it didn't make sense, and thinking now even with a partner, didnt make sense. Other side of the street mostly owned by Lino, nothing is for sale. Even looked at the new property by the old carwash, only for lease. We tried everything to stay in Meaford as we have made a lot of loyal customer relationships, which means the world to us. Thornbury and Collingwood is overloaded with restaurants with plenty of choices. Catherine found a place for sale looking in Owen Sound. Ironically enough I worked there part time while holding my chefs position at Stone Tree, under 2 different owners. I worked there when it was the Grey Heron, and also Chaisse Lounge. It is now resting as Avalon, which we will renovate and reopen as Sizzlin sometime between the last week of March, first week of April. We will continue to operate Sizzlin in Meaford up until we are ready to move over to the new location. We will need 3-4 days turn around to move all our current belongings over adding to new items. We are not reinventing the wheel, we are keeping everything the same. The new location boasts 70 seats in the main restaurant plus an additional 90 seat rooftop patio(super excited about this). Everything will still be homemade, same portions, same foods with a few change ups. We will still have a wing night, fish night and burger night. There will be a new bar, with more drafts focusing on some local brands. Wines will also change up to offer some local flare. We have had a good vibe since starting this adventure with things falling into place nicely (yeah, I just nudged Murphy lol). For those who have gift certificates, nothing changes except our loacation and a drive to Owen Sound. For those who dont know the location, we are 3 doors down from the Roxxy theater, across for the Sun Times Bayshore Broadcasting, and the TD bank. 231 9th St. East. We are also excited to announce our local contractor Tim White, who is ready to start on this Monday. We were very worried about the response, both from our staff and regulars. Staff have been informed and we have had a lot of positive feedback. We are hopeful and confident that most to all will come with us in this new adventure. As for our regulars, well this is the first announcement. We are also confident we will bring you the exact same experience you have come to enjoy at Sizzlin. So onward we go. Demo starts Monday. It is our hope again to be open last week of March or April 1st (yeah April's Fools Day, we know) but this is not a prank. Follow us for updates and details and ask any questions you may have.
