TONIGHT the auction ends!!

Scott Inside Out 15.07.2020

This was my view from 10am to 4pm today. In my housecoat on the couch...the closest thing that I can get to a spa at home! Today is all about self care for me. Today I'm celebrating 10 years medication free! This is a HUGE deal for me.... It IS possible to have a bipolar disorder type 1 diagnosis and not require daily psychiatric medication. There IS actual work involved however it IS possible. In case you're curious...both the last psychiatrist that I saw in Dec of 2013 and my doctor are totally good with me NOT being on meds. I am so grateful that my family did not disown me. This happens for some people with a bipolar disorder diagnosis. I am grateful to be increasingly and consistently mentally stable, overall healthy, and to be maintaining a strong support network of incredible people. I am grateful to have SO many supportive people in my life. My recovery day from "24 hours for bipolar" is going well. I got to sleep at 6:15pm last night and slept until 3am. Kept my eyes closed in bed until 6:15am and then stayed in bed while doing stuff on my computer until 9am. Setting the intention that after an epsom salt bath tonight that I'll be asleep by 11pm at the latest. And back into a more normal sleep pattern after not sleeping on Saturday night during "24 hours for bipolar". I'll be celebrating both finishing "24 hours for bipolar" and my 10 year med free anniversary tonight at Block Kitchen + Bar - BANFF with the 24hrs crew (Masaki, Josh, Brahm and Cheryl). BTW our 24hrs online auction has some items with NO bids! You can get something in there at a STEAL of a deal! Online auction for 24hrs closes this Wed Sep 2 @ 11:59:59pm MT. https://tiaho.org/blog/2020auction Many of the items in the online auction are virtual, meaning that anyone anywhere can use and benefit from the item! Our fundraising for 24hrs is open until next week Mon Sep 7 @ 11:59:59pm MT. We're currently at $2717 raised. THANK YOU for all of your donations they are greatly appreciated! This year our donations have ranged from $5 to $300. ***HOW CAN I DONATE?*** 1. PREFERRED via PayPal or etransfer to [email protected] (no tax receipt) 2. Yesterday I thought a lot about my Dad. Had some tears missing him, more tears of gratitude about him, and lots of memories of things I did with him in my mind. My Dad passed away on Aug 5, 1985 when I was 12. I'm truly fortunate that the last words my Dad ever said to me were "I'm proud of you son".... One of my Dad's many passions was history. In about 1980 he took the time to interview my Grandfather about his life. John Shura was my Dad's father-in-law who was born in Poland and moved to Canada when he was 8. Yesterday I listened to this interview and it felt like I was 7 all over again! Truly grateful to have this treasured memory that will live on forever. If you're curious, I've uploaded this interview to my business YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/IwjXTC7qKtE ***About the photo*** This was the last family Christmas photo before my Dad passed away

One year ago today I was filled with IMMENSE gratitude! Friends Masaki Yokota, Tyler Williams and I had completed another bipolar awareness fundraising hike, 24 hours of Tunnel from July 11-12, 2019. One month ago today I celebrated my 47th birthday! It was in the middle of my birthday week I'm truly grateful and fortunate to be healthy overall. I've now o...utlived my Dad by five years which I do not take for granted. What is 47 "supposed" to feel like?! I'm not sure... These things I am 100% sure of for me right now: - more wrinkles every year - more gray hairs than last year - no ability to jump anymore...nickname is no longer Sky (Ground is more appropriate) - gratitude is continually increasingly - fully accepting of both who I am and my life - ability to be fully present is continually increasing - excited and optimistic about my future - deeper and more fulfilling relationships - released resentments - my mind no longer has dominant negative thoughts - enjoying embracing healing in multiple ways - able to do what I desire to physically - fortunate to have no physical pain in my body I am so grateful and fortunate to have supportive family and friends in my life who helped me celebrate me during my birthday week! Highlights of my birthday week included: - going mountain biking and having a drink with my brother in Canmore - doing a hike with my second Mom Annie - seeing my spirit animal twice that week including on my actual birthday (an eagle) - having a potluck birthday supper with friends on my bday - being treated to a birthday lunch at a restaurant with friends - going biking in the rain with friends on my birthday - being treated by friends to an 18 hole round of golf here in town - seeing a grizzly bear (Split Lip) during that golf round - going mountain biking with a buddy on Moraine Lake road with no vehicles - going for walks and a bike ride in town with different friends 1-on-1 - phone & video calls with different people

*** SAVE THE DATE - Aug 29/30, 2020 *** Two months from today at this time... Myself and others will have successfully completed another bipolar disorder awareness hiking fundraiser!... Much more will be announced about this event in the coming month. This year's event is nearly identical to last year's "24 hours of Tunnel". One major intention for this year's event is that I would LOVE to have more people participate who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. And/or family and friends of people diagnosed. Stay tuned for updates

UPDATE - my friend Despina guessed it correctly! It's red cabbage. I was blown away by the beautiful colour! Red cabbage is great for liver health. Not my #1 choice for taste mind you. According to the book "Liver Rescue" by Medical Medium (Anthony William), red cabbage helps "...the liver restore its nutrient storage banks." Last week I completed a 9 day liver cleanse. Right now I'm doing different things every day to improve my liver health. What type of juice do you think it is? I'd love to hear your guesses!

This is a scheduled post that I created last Saturday... As you're reading this, I am on a self-imposed "Facebook fast" after spending too much time on it last week. This week I'm doing my best to be 100% in the "growth zone" of this graphic. Last week I spent a lot of time in the "evaluate information" part of the learning zone. I watched different videos related to COVID-19, from both well-known and not so well-known sources.... Where are you in relation to this graph?

Scott Inside Out 22.08.2019

This is a scheduled post. The reason I state this is because as you read this I am on a self-imposed Facebook fast for a week. I typed up this post last Saturday night...... Last week I spent much more time than normal on Facebook. While some of it was very good, either educational or connecting with family/friends, some of it was purely time wasting. BTW I don't have a lettuce mask

My bipolar journey - Part 15 Approximately one year after starting with BMO, I was promoted to the lending/investment area. I was still at the call centre however I was now in a totally different role. My time was now spent doing credit applications (mortgages, loans, lines of credit) or advising/selling different investment products (GICs and mutual funds) to clients. I also started studying towards becoing a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). My intention was to become a fi...nancial planner with BMO or another financial institution. I ended up working at BMO for about three years. During that time I stayed on the same dose of Lithium. I didn't have any big highs (mania) or big lows (depression). What I did have was side effects from medication...random muscle twitches, slightly shaky hands that I did my best to hide, and near-constant thirst. I told myself that I'd rather have side effects than be in a psych ward. And I didn't have the desire to take a chance on a different medication which may or may not work... What did you do after working for BMO? Did anything change with your mental health and/or meds? Tune in for Part 16 coming soon :-) ***About the photo*** This is from the "Venture" floor of BMO direct banking where I worked for a few years. Everyone on this floor was a lender. And some of us also were accredited to sell and advise about mutual funds that BMO offered. While we did have cubicles at least it was fairly open...
