Scott Manor House: See it like you have never seen it before! Thanks Adam Carney, East Coast Amateur Aerials for this amazing look at Bedford's oldest home and heritage site. #ecaadrone
Virtual celebrations began today, January 26, for African Heritage Month with a provincial proclamation launch and poster unveiling with Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBl...anc, Premier Stephen McNeil, and African Nova Scotian Affairs Minister Tony Ince. The provincial theme, Black History Matters: Listen, Learn, Share and Act, calls on all Nova Scotians to make a better society by recognizing the long-standing history and legacy of African Nova Scotians, and by acknowledging racialized issues and adversity for people of African descent. For a list of African Heritage Month 2021 virtual events across the province, please visit http://www.ahm.bccnsweb.com/wp/events. . Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia

Warren Ervine, Fort Sackville Foundation (FSF) Archivist from 2009 until his passing in Fall 2020, was posthumously awarded the Anna Hamilton Award by the Council of Nova Scotia Archives on December 15. This award recognizes outstanding volunteer service to the Nova Scotia archival community. We are grateful for Warren’s enthusiastic contributions and dedication to the FSF and Scott Manor House and are pleased to see his contributions recognized by the Council. https://fb.watch/2q40tL_bKq/

Theodore is back in Bedford. A small child ran up to everyone’s favorite tug yesterday and said, Hi Theodore! I just wish I could hop on you! Today’s childhood memories are tomorrow’s heritage stories. That’s a sweet one!
This bench is waiting for you to enjoy, located in Bedford’s beautiful and historic Fish Hatchery Park. Mi’kmaq people harvested salmon here, at the mouth of the Sackville River. The Dominion Fish Hatchery operated on the site from 1875-1962, trapping salmon, retrieving eggs and raising spawn to stock local rivers and lakes. Today a band stand graces the park, overlooking the Cenotaph topped by a majestic lion. Stroll the park, read the interpretive panels and absorb the serenity. Thank you to the Sackville Rivers Association https://www.facebook.com/groups/76284645535/ for your tireless work, rehabilitating and conserving this important watershed.
A beautiful reason to stroll our grounds!
Wonderful work preserving our community heritage!

Next time you are strolling in DeWolf Park, take a moment to find the park's dedication plaque located near the flag pole. You'll learn more about why Canada's first arctic patrol ship was named HMCS Harry DeWolf. #HMCSHarryDeWolf
So very disappointed that our sign on the Bedford Highway was vandalized sometime between noon on Sunday and Monday morning. The metal frame was damaged when it was forced open to disrupt our heritage message. We won't be able to use it until it is repaired. Volunteers are working to get the sign back in service. We look forward to sharing Bedford history tidbits on our sign as soon as possible.
The Royal Canadian Navy welcomed their first Arctic Offshore Patrol ship, HMCS Harry DeWolf, named for Vice-Admiral Harry DeWolf, the World War II naval hero who was born in Bedford. Congratulations to all involved! #HMCSHarryDeWolf @MaritimeForcesAtlantic

Scott Manor House will remain closed for the summer season due to COVID-19. This beloved Bedford landmark has witnessed 250 years of history and monumental events, helping us remember that better days will be ahead. Even though we will miss your visits this summer, we hope to see you in the summer of 2021 when we can welcome you to the fantastic summer programs we postponed from this year.
