E cards for special occassions are now the most common but remember the elderly usually still prefer a card mailed. Especially if it contains a news letter or pictures or a combination of both. Sharing highlights of the year and special events alow them to continue to be included and part of the family

To e mail a Christmas or Hannuckah greeting or actually mail a card, what to do? The general rule of thumb is to follow suite if they have already sent out something to you. Paper for Paper and e greeting for the same.

Well it's November, and even its almost finished. Over the season of giving and light to many different cultures, it is a frantic time of year. During this time, it is often forgotten, as to why we are actually out there in the hubbub, crowds and traffic. So let's remember to treat our fellow human with courtesy, respect and patience. Look for creative gifts. Perhaps the materialism and carnage is getting you down? Try donations to the Wildlife Association in someone's name.... Adopt or sponsor a starving child, or bring a clean water source to their village. Save the whales/orcas and polar bears are- on everyone's mind this year. There are so many ways to give back, and feel all warm and fuzzy, and it can be done from your laptop or phone. -Don't beat yourself up, and allow some of those old expectations to dim down a bit. -Wear your ugly holiday sweater and take some memories via photos. --Give things a new home that have been sitting in your closet, or those chachkas you have hidden in a box in storage. -Donate old holiday ornaments and books. If you have technology that you no longer use, donate it, so someone who needs it but can't afford it, can join the world wide web. -Many places of worship, the salvation army, value village all especially need scarves, hats, gloves, blankets and softly worn jackets for the winter weather. (Do you knit, crochet, or sew?) -Walk a shelter dog during the holidays. This is a wonderful way to teach children creative ways to give back and be of service. -Make a holiday hamper with friends or neighbours for those in need or shut in. -A lot of single and or seniors would appreciate some home made cookies. We most of us, have too much stuff and just would like to enjoy a snowman cookie with sprinkles with our tea. Above all, remember to be kind to yourself and take time to rest, breath and laugh. Give yourself a bubble bath or massage. Have a spa day with friends, you won't see during the actual holidays and make that your celebration with them. The holidays don't have to break our budgets and spirit,. We might actually enjoy them more, if we returned to a more personal expression of our regard and affection. It's friends and family that make the season. So make an extra seat at your table, and remember we are all the light and a piece of the source, which makes us more than enough, just as we are. So give yourself to your loved ones, by just making time. Enjoy, be safe and remember there are over 364 other days to give of yourself. Your company, text, or phone call being the best present of all. All the Best of the Season to you and yours as we wind up for the festivities. Sharon Lygo Scribe Services
