Squeak McSqueakerson - ADOPTION PENDING I won't write too long of a description on this little nugget as he has an adoption pending a home visit and his potential adopters are very much in love with this adventure-seeking, courageous, fun-loving, miracle boy. If anything changes on his status I will post a fuller description of the kind of home that would best suit this little adventurer.

Kittens! The Barn Boys are coming up to 10 weeks of age and they are growing in leaps and bounds ... literally! Not only are they getting bigger, their characters are really shining through, and they are each such individuals. Charlie's Fund is now open to receiving adoption applications, so if you are interested, please drop us a line as soon as possible. You can contact Michelle through Charlie's Fund, or drop me an email at [email protected] for the applic...ation form. ALSO ... we are VERY close to our goal of $2000 to help fund the medical, vaccinations and neutering of these boys, along with the TNR of their mamas and older siblings back at the barn in which they were found. (Of course, donations beyond the $2000 are deeply appreciated as it will got to help other litters of kittens and the health and welfare of the hundreds of cats in the care of Waterloo Region Street Cats. Please consider a donation ... and please know that the funds are used extremely judiciously and wisely for the betterment of any animal taken in. ANY amount helps!!! I will be posting individual photos of these boys shortly.

I've been waiting a long time to meet this little one-eyed, toothless scruffnugget. Little Sammy was a superstar at his Album Session yesterday.

The Barn Boys are growing up! (l to r) Sammy L. Jackson, Smokey Robinson, and Squeak the Squid. They are each becoming SUCH individuals, and even though they are only 9 weeks of age this week, it is already clear what each of them wants most out of life. All three are doing well ... they are feeling SO much better and finally have the boundless energy of kittens. They play with each other, play with toys, play with humans ... they are being well socialized with people and k...ids, as well as dogs ... and each of them will be making someone(s) VERY happy they opened their heart to them. We will start collecting adoption applications on these three even though it will still be a while before they are ready to go to their forever homes. (Priority will be given to those in the KW and surrounding area.) Please stay tuned here on the SDP FB page for more detailed profiles of each. In the meantime, if you or someone you know are interested in one of these phenomenal boys, please drop me a line so that I can forward the Charlie's Fund adoption application! (Serious inquiries only!!) And please feel free to SHARE!!

And then I said to Lyric: "Lyric," I said, "give me your absolute best smile."

My girl... As some of you know, I drove all the way to Dallas, Tx to get this girl of mine ... essentially, 5 days of driving. Obviously I sought out as much information on this girl before committing to such a long drive and lifetime commitment, so I arranged to have my longtime photographer friend TERESA BERG go to check this dog out, and hired a professional trainer to go with Teresa to assess Matlin. Matlin (then named Daphne) was 11 months old, and having spent most of ...her first informative year at the rescue, she didn't have a lot of exposure to people and the world in general, but great exposure to other dogs. Equipped with notes in regards to what I was looking for in a dog behaviorally and characterwise, the trainer talked about how this fearful, nervous dog with limited exposure would not be any sort of agility dog and would need a lot of work. I hope she gets to see this photo some day. No, we're not in a agility ring, but we've done some agility - as I have with every dog who has been under my care - and it's not my desire to compete. But I certainly did get a dog who - now, having just turned 5 yrs - would certainly be up for the task. Sure do love this Texan. NOTE: and yes, I was bent over, crotch-deep in the chilly Nith River, with water-filled rubber boots, for this shot.

I have to admit, people, I have never seen myself with a little dog ... I've always said 20 lbs is my minimum ... but my heart literally aches with each photo of sweet, little Milo. I am in love with this 3-pound scruffnugget ... as I am quite certain a good number of you are as well.

Stay tuned this evening, everyone ... 7:33 ... I promise, the profound adorableness will shock and stun you ... you will realize that all past experiences of cuteness were simply mediocre at best ... they were merely a build up to the sight that will unfold before you this evening ... so cute, you won't know what to do with yourself and the primal squeee! erupting from your very core will be heard by your neighbors, and some might even come knocking to be sure you're okay. I have faith in you all, though, that you will be brave enough to look and that you will - eventually - recover. 7:33 ... right here on the SDP facebook page.

scruffy dog photography 05.07.2020

This image won't likely make it into Milo's final gallery as I have so many more images where he fills the screen just a little more ... but I thought I'd share this one just so you can see how teeny tiny this mighty little puppy actually is at 4 months of age and 3 lbs. And that's not a road he's running on ... it's just an average foot-trail.

scruffy dog photography 29.06.2020

I may have broken Milo ... at 3 lbs he is not only the smallest client I have ever had But easily one of the most talented. I milked his cuteness and mad modelling skills to the fullest .. and yes, took in all of his fabulous puppy loving after ever shot. Thanks, Nick and Milo for a truly unforgettable evening. I cannot wait to see Milo at his grown up session.

poor Westley had no fun whatsoever at his scruffy puppy session last night.

1 yr old Salem has grown up into quite the model.

scruffy dog photography 23.04.2020

Wanda ... she's only a little bit nuts.

scruffy dog photography 09.04.2020

This little scruffnugget just joined the SDP family ... no! not our actual family ... although those ears would rival Matlin's and I'm pretty sure I'd snatch him up if given the chance. This is wee Milo ... who - i'm told - is a yorkie / shihtzu cross. Not entirely certain I see Shihtzu ... definitely Yorkie ... and my bet on the cross is miniature donkey. I can't wait for his puppy session next weekend! Now, everyone who can't resist an adorable puppy, raise your ears ... er ... I mean, hands!

Archie rocked his scruffy session yesterday and finally enlightened us with the answer to the centuries-old question: "Who's a good boy?"

scruffy dog photography 21.03.2020

Someone did thems some growin' up since their last session ... Kink and Salem

scruffy dog photography 05.03.2020

Just to be clear ... Salem has a perpetually resting-b*tch face (pun fully intended) ... we were simply working with it.

"Well, hey there." ~ Bauer

scruffy dog photography 20.01.2020

Still (ball) crazy after all these years. Bauer was one of my first clients, early on in the first couple of years of scruffy dog. It's been wonderful to be a part of his life journey, to watch him age and the bond grow deeper and deeper between him and his humans, Karen and RJ. This was Bauer's fourth time in front of the scruffy dog cameras, and he proved that even at 14 1/2, he's still got the moves.

Meanwhile, Amigo took a short break during his session in order to determine whether he could fit Bosco's head in his mouth.

scruffy dog photography 22.12.2019

And then, in his very first run of the night, young Amigo gave me this.

scruffy dog photography 09.12.2019

Blue-Green Algae ... I've understood the deadly dangers of blue-green algae in dogs for years now, and it still surprises me when dog guardians aren't aware of it, AND that more warnings aren't making their rounds on social media like there are about dogs in hot cars and hot pavement on dogs' feet. Especially given the heat we are having this summer (conditions where the algae thrives), please share this with anyone who has a dog, especially water-loving dogs.... https://www.akc.org/exper//blue-green-algae-symptoms-tips/

Yes, it's Monday ... but we're here to make it all better with a little bit of puppy goodness. Here's George. You're welcome.
