Due to concerns resulting from the flooding of Guichon Creek School District No. 58 has announced that Nicola Canford Elementary will be closed Monday, May 7th.... Also, buses will not be running west of Guichon Creek along Hwy 8. Superintendent Stephen McNiven says the situation will be reassessed again tomorrow. See more

Message to Parents of Merritt Secondary School: Over the weekend police have informed the School District of a possible threat related to Merritt Secondary school. While we have been assured there is no immediate threat we do want to share information with you out of an abundance of caution. We have been working very closely over the last 24 hours with police who have provided valuable guidance as we ensure the safety of all students and staff in our district. RCMP will be pr...oviding support on site at the school tomorrow. The School District does have safety protocols in place and the Community Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) team which includes police, School District staff, with assistance from the Ministry of Education has been activated. We ask each of you as part of our school community that if you see or hear anything that doesn’t look or feel right that you report it immediately. As this is a police investigation, that is all I can share at this time. I do want to assure you we are taking every precaution from the district to ensure the safety of your child. First Day of School: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2017 Adjusted hours: 10:00 am to 12 noon... Please note: Merritt Secondary School Grade 8 students are at school from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Buses will pick up students one hour later in the morning and return students beginning at noon. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2017 Regular school hours and buses begin the regular schedule.
