Simcoe & District home sales break record for October as average prices hover near record levels. Residential sales activity recorded through the MLS System of the Simcoe & District Real Estate Board totaled 126 units in October 2020. This was a large increase of 31.3% from October 2019 and was also a new sales record for the month of October. On a year-to-date basis, home sales totalled a record 1,016 units over the first 10 months of the year. This was an increase of 10% f...rom 2019. The average price of homes sold in the month of October 2020 was $509,760, up 16.9% from October 2019. The dollar value of all home sales in October 2020 was $64.2 million, a significant gain of 53.4% from the same month in 2019. This was also a new record for the month of October. As is the story with many other housing markets across Ontario, sales activity in the Norfolk County region hit a new record level in October, posting not only the highest level for this month but also the third highest level of any month in history, said Prue Steiner, President of the Simcoe & District Real Estate Board. New listings have barely kept pace with the strength of demand and the result is record low inventories and near-record high prices.
