Our good friend Ted Fullerton has launched this fabulous initiative! : To combat food/financial insecurity in the wake of the coronaviru, artists have been collectively engaged in events with fundraising strategies to assist non-profit organizations. To this end the Bau-Xi Gallery, Toronto and myself will be collaborating on a charitable fund raising event .The link to Ted Fullerton - Artists in Su...pport of Food Banks Canada is https://bau-xi.com//ted-fullerton-food-banks-canada-art-au During the Covid-19 stay at home advisory I completed 30 mixed media drawings over a 10-day period that are intended as an optimistic engagement and consideration of hope during a time of unparalleled global crisis. They are symbolically associated to the notion of the Greek myth and folklore of the Phoenix who obtains new life by arising from the ashes and regenerates. I refer to this movement of drawings as, Dreaming of a Phoenix from the Flames in 20/20. They where done as a sort of, stream of consciousness a laconic expression using wet and dry materials on paper that are visually subtle as well as expressively bold. The 30 drawings are 43.18cm x 35.56cm, (17 x 14) 24 vertical and 6 are horizontal. These drawings will be offered for an open bid and all the funds raised from the sale of the 30 drawings, Dreaming of a Phoenix from the Flames in 20/20, will be donated to Food Banks Canada. The 30 drawings will be posted by number on the Bau-Xi Toronto web site were an open financial offer can be made for a single drawing, a selected few or the entire 30. Offers in the form of a bid can be directed to Bau-Xi Gallery by email ([email protected]), with a closing date of May 22, 2020 at 11:59 PM. Once bidding closes, successful collectors will be notified within 48 hours. Each year at this time we prep the Helen and Arch Brown Centre For the Visual Arts to display students work for our annual Scholarship Show. Throughout May we receive hundreds of friends, family, community members and visiting school groups and share these accomplishments. This year our remarkable team member Tamara Benoit has created a virtual exhibit. Using whatever imagery students had at the time of the abrupt lock down, this show was created. It is a lot of fun to to... navigate, use your mouse or keyboard arrows to move virtually, and have a look at the amazing things that were made at Georgian College this year. A big congratulations to all of the scholarship winners, a huge thanks, to our Jurors, and to our generous donors whose on going support is so gratifying. The file is large and will take some time to load as it is a virtual environment that you navigate with your cursor. We do hope you enjoy this and again thanks for the continuing support. https://www.artsteps.com//5eacd3ab13b47b6fd83def2b/1280/720" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>
