Sea Creatures for Baby Shark 01.10.2020

****New Blog Post**** Home I envision my family in a small manageable home somewhere alone, with lots of land and at peace. I think a lot about getting away from the rules, the people and the noise... I think about running away.... ...Does Jake’s Dinner even deliver to imaginary places in the middle of no where, away from it all?

...I rush to her, wrapping her tiny body in my arms. I kiss her and the screams turn to quiet sobs. I slowly move to lay her back into the crib. Her arms and legs desperately tighten around me. Her head shakes no and her little voice says uhoh, uhoh over and over. Her one word to describe a problem, a situation she can’t fix and that requires my help...

Hey guys, I have a big apology to make. Derek and I have been loving our family bike rides. Today we proudly rode with our GCC jerseys. But at this point I know that I’m not going to make it to my 500 km goal. There have been a lot of stresses in our life lately. This has been an extremely challenging month. My mental health has significantly deteriorated as a result. Most days I have difficulty getting out of bed, let alone meeting a very testing goal like this one. ... Anyone who knows me, knows that I hate to fail. If things are not going my way, I just need to work harder, learn more, focus and devote my time. I believe that individuals can do anything if they just decide to do it. Life takes work and time but any goal is achievable. So at this point, the idea that I’m publicly failing and can’t achieve something I have set my mind to is devastating and a true testament to my current state. I’m thankful for all the people who have been there for us lately. Those who came to visit or sent tiny notes and gifts to help lift my spirits. My parents have canceled plans and made themselves available to help care for Evie. They’ve made some very gentle efforts to lure me from my bedroom. All this kindness has made me decide to be kind to myself and accept that sometimes switching to a new goal, like caring for my body and soul, isn’t failing it’s just changing my priorities. Derek on the other hand is absolutely determined to meet his cycling goal, despite all the new pressure and worry being placed on his shoulders. He’s been cycling every day after work. When I met Derek, I was at first appalled , but then grew to appreciate, the fact that he is unbreakably honest. He also is the greatest example of a good person. If you’ve ever taken the time to discuss philosophy with him you would know that the impact Derek makes on the world is very important to him. All he wants is to make the world a better place and to teach his kids to do the same. He sees the value in small everyday acts and his commitment to this is resolute. I’m very proud that one of us has the strength to carry our family and achieve the goals that are important to us. We’re a team, today he is strong and hopefully when he needs me, I’ll be able to do the same for him. Fly high our sweet warrior, you are never far from our thoughts. https://greatcyclechallenge.ca/Teams/MilliesPerfectHeart

I have something incredibly special to share with all of you. As many Yarmouth Residents know, Sandy Dennis was a beloved Town Councillor and a personal friend who passed away from Cancer. Sandy’s love for this Town was contagious. My favourite memories of her was whispering I’m pregnant while shopping for baby things at Sandy’s Gifts in the early weeks of learning Millie would be joining our family. Another is watching as she refused to give up, when everyone else said the...re was no options, to help a family whose basement had a sewage backup and couldn’t afford to fix it. Millie met Sandy for the first time in the Tim Hortons parking lot in Shelburne. It was Millie’s first trip home, our first time to share her with Yarmouth. Sandy and Ken were on their way to Halifax for Chemo treatments. Sandy cried when she saw our baby. I remember getting back into the car to travel the rest of the way home and thinking how incredibly sad and hard life can be but it’s how your respond to that hardship that people will remember. Ken reached out to me yesterday. He offered me replicas of their home that Sandy had made. His words were the house that Sandy saved. He suggested that selling them for donations towards our cycling challenge would be fitting and that he thought Sandy would like that. So my friends, without further ado, I have these incredible replicas of The Lovitt House to offer. If you would like to have one, please send me a message. I have limited quantities and this is a fundraiser to fight Children’s Cancer, so I will be giving them to those who offer the largest donation. If you are from away, please keep in mind shipping costs. Thank you To learn more about the Lovitt House, check out the Town’s online walking tour- https://www.townofyarmouth.ca/walking-tour.html To learn more about this the a Great Cycling Challenge, you can find my page here greatcyclechallenge.ca/Riders/CarolineRobertson.

Good Morning Sea Creatures, Lately I’ve been feeling so incredibly down. All the commotion in the world has made it hard for me to think positively about my life. Could you take the time to fill in the blanks and comment below? ... I’m hoping to get some positive inspiration for new artwork. Love, Mama Shark Today, I’m grateful for coffee Something that made me smile was Evie opening and closing the bedroom door letting the dogs move in and out Something I did for myself was work through an Automatic Thought Exercise at 3:00 am to keep my mind rational while sleep training Evelyn. . I struggle a lot with letting Evie cry. When Millie cried her oxygen saturation would desaturate, it wasn’t safe to let her cry it out. My brain has been trained to run the moment that my children cry and this has created some separation and self soothing problems for Evie. Someone I appreciate in my life is Derek Robertson. He was up all night with Evelyn and I while we tried to work through our own problems and fall asleep. He even woke me up this morning with coffee and breakfast in bed. .It’s his last day of work before vacation and I bet he can’t wait to come home and get some sleep.

***New Blog Post*** .... This Friday, May 22, my little rainbow child turns one. I can’t believe I have lived a year in this fog, in only the present moment and her needs. The last few weeks I feel like I’m resurfacing. I’m thinking more. My brain is a little clearer and I’m able to get more done.... ... Read the entire post at www.artingrief.com
