Never know what you’re going to see walking in the barn here, rigs of every size.
Here is our ad to go in the Percheron Broadcaster. Thanks to Deanna Lynn for putting this together.
Happy New Years! Yesterday Aunty Donna went for a spin feeding the mares some bales and got a photo with the hoar frost in the background.

The new farm sign showed up today this has been a work in progress for awhile now but thanks to the crew at Jet Plasma here in choiceland it got done. Grandpa has been farming the home 1/4 here since 1949 when he was 18 years old. He even found the original rental agreement the other day between him and his uncle Jack. The land became Mort’s as his wedding present.
Anyone looking for a caboose for those cold winter sleigh rides? We have two available, both are John Deere green, have sliding windshields and have small wood burning stoves. If interested please call Darren at 306-276-7884.
The mares had to run over to the fence to see Deanna on her snow shoes
Flash and Romeo delivering salt and mineral today and the young mares came running up to meet them.

High calibre polar eclipse on the left and Elkview King 19 on the right.
Checked in on some horses this evening. This is LD’s Simon Xanax and his group of fillies and then a picture of yearling stallion High Calibre Polar Eclipse.
Janssen Farm’s Phoenix (foreground) and River Oak Emerald’s Rock (background) meeting for the first time.
Hard to get a photo of this filly, she was the last one born for the year. Janssen Farm’s Phoenix and Westwind Count’s Taylor. She is also eligible for the eberglo Breeders futurity at the 2022 congress.
Grandpa Mort breaking some pasture up to clean up the weeds, rpm and heater get cranked when he’s on the controls, pretty good for 89 years old!
Cousin Jack from the city has been out for a few days so what did we do? He learned the fine arts of barn cleaning and stacking square bales 200 yesterday and 500 today with a couple extras in the crew.
San Lan Romeo and Ropp’s Flash. 3 year old geldings.
Edelweiss Viva a two year old grey filly who is eligible to compete in the Naeric draft horse futurity next spring in Brandon. Second picture is yearling filly Seaman’s Bella who is eligible spring 2022.
A few more baby pictures tonight by Deanna Watson. Descriptions under each photo.
June 1st stud colt out of Glenview Aurora and LD’s Simon Xanax. Dad has named him Cassius Clay.
Incredible horses. Percheron owned by a friend out in Choiceland. Looking good Kevin.
A bit of an audience watching the water truck being filled. This is Janssen Farm’s Phoenix’s group.
Rock and his group of mares and foals all bunched up fighting the bugs and awaiting the daily rain clouds to show up. I walked across pasture to them and ended up soaking my shoes as I could not pick and choose a relatively dry path.
Introducing River Oak Emerald’s Rock, a veteran stallion that we acquired from Lone Oak Percheron’s this spring. Also the group of mares with foals that he is looking after for the summer.
LD’s Simon Xanax and his group of young ladies for the summer, 14 two year olds and 1 three year old.
Foaling is complete with a solid black filly out of Westwind Count’s Taylor and Janssen Farm’s Phoenix. Grandpa was excited that his team of American mares both had fillies this year.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! Pictured is grandpa Mort on the Leon with Flash and Romeo. 89 years old driving a pair of 3 year olds that love to go!
Valley Ridge Rosemary with a stud colt born at 11:30 this morning he is sired by LD’s Simon Xanax.
Newest baby was born this morning it is a filly out of grandpas mare Le-Dor’s Loretta and sired by Janssen Farm’s Phoenix, with it being rainy windy and cool they get to be inside until the weather smartens up a bit.
Glenview Aurora delivered a big strong stud colt this afternoon sired by LD’s Simon Xanax I believe. This leaves us with 3 more to go.
Baby Chloe. This filly has had a tough go but things are looking up for her now. At two weeks of age she lost her mother, we were able to foster her onto Ju-Ly Royal after some convincing and phone calls/text messages with the Repro vet at the UofS large animal clinic. At a month old she became sick and spent a couple nights at the UofS clinic away from her new mother but she is a fighter and made it through, if nothing else with all the handling she is used to people now and does sort of lead.
Seaman’s Anastasia as a baby she is out of Ju-Ly Penny and LD’s Legacie Ultimate and is turning into big mare like her mother. She is one of fifteen fillies with LD’s Simon Xanax for the summer. Penny is heavy in foal but hasn’t decided it’s her time yet.
Elkview Breeze 17 had a surprise for us this morning, a filly born sometime in the night. Maiden mares . Sired by LD’s Simon Xanax, it’s looking like she will be grey like her mom.
Finally a standing picture of Roxy’S baby and a throwback to her baby last year as a newborn.
Newest baby here is Edelweiss Roxy 15 with a filly born at about 2am yesterday. I believe this is a full sister to Bianca born a year ago. Janssen farms Phoenix is the sire.
Today we did some shuffling horses around, these two had trouble with a puddle that their mothers crossed without them, the front is Ju-Ly Riatta’s stud colt, behind is Legacie Lady’s filly. They are both out of LD’s Simon Xanax, the LD’s Prince Legacy breeding is thick in these two as both mares are out of Legacy sons and Xanax himself is out of a Legacy dam. I think that means they are more than half siblings but haven’t done the math.
Edelweiss Savannah looking off into the distance while her baby naps in the sun and straw.
A horse of a different colour in the barn, Rosie the paint is a coming 3 year old, she would need a mirror to prove she isn’t a percheron though as that is who she has been with since she came here as a weanling.
Flash and Romeo had a long and leisurely trip to town yesterday about 12 miles total, today they got put to work for a couple loops.
Dad cruising through town today, picked up grandpa and Aunty and went up town and had coffee brought out from the cafe.
The latest baby this one is a Janssen Farm’s Phoenix stud colt out of Edelweiss Savannah. We are in a bit of a foaling lull now which will give the yard a chance to dry up before the remaining 7 foal.
Flash and Romeo
Elkview Abby and her stud colt by Xanax. 6 days short of a month old. He is fun to watch
Baby 6. Legacie’s Lady with a big strong filly by LD’s Simon’s Xanax. She was born about 3:30 am.

Klassic Rock and her 9 day old filly enjoying the snow from yesterday.
Baby 4 a filly born last Sunday, mom is Ju-Ly Klassic Rock and dad is Xanax.
The 4th baby was born early this morning but I haven’t caught a picture of it yet. It is a Xanax filly out of Ju-Ly Klassic Rock. Pictured is 12 day old grey stud colt out of LD’s Simon’s Xanax and Elkview Abby 17. This little guy has Robinlawn’s Black Ice on both sides of the pedigree as a great-grandsire. He is enjoying life outside ripping around and meeting neighbours on the other side of the fence.
Abby showing her baby there’s more to the world than the 14X15 stall!
Baby #3 Another Xanax stud colt out of Ju-Ly Royal.
Baby #2 getting it figured out. Grey stud colt by LD’s Simon’s Xanax and Elkview Abby 17, this mare has come a long ways in the last few months being trained by Doug Hobman learning to lead and also drive and now looking like she will make a great mother.
Honey and baby Chloe had a big audience of pregnant mares on other side of fence on their quick voyage outside today.
Baby #1 made her appearance at about 2:30 am! Sired by Belleview Crown Royal and out of Trippcrest King’s Honey. This is the result of a stallion service purchased for the 2022 World Percheron Congress futurity and a mare that Kevin and Mort partnered in purchasing. Seaman’s Bella is a 3/4 sister (same mom and out of Marcus a half brother to Crown Royal)
First time hooked together for these two coming 3 year old geldings, on the right is SANLAN Romeo he will be shown at the Naeric futurity in Brandon and on the left is Gordyville addition Ropp’s Flash. It is a balmy +3*C today so no need for skidoo suit driving today!
Yearling filly Seaman’s Bella, she will be in the Naeric futurity sale in Brandon. Today she got a little time outside to visit with the other yearlings.
A video of two out of the 3 stud colts we are offering for sale. All 3 are by our stud Janssen Farm’s Phoenix. These two are out of a Windermere’s North American Maid mare (Le-Dor’s Loretta) and a SkyView Count On It mare (Westwind’s Count’s Taylor) These mares were drove together and as part of hitch for four years. These two colts are very close to identical. The third stud colt is out of a Windermere’s Evangelist mare (Glenview Aurora) he is going to be bigger than the two in the video. For more information please message Kevin on Facebook or give Darren a call at 306-276-7884.
https://www.draftsforsale.com/ShowAd/index.php 3 year old gelding for sale. Pictures in comments.
First sleigh ride of the New Year! Happy New Years everyone!
This showed up on my personal page as a memory from 3 years ago. Grandpa doing a Christmas sleigh ride with his mares Le-Dors Loretta, and Westwind Counts Taylor. Check out the John Deere caboose with wood heater! Merry Christmas!
This is Seaman’s Bella, grandpa and I partnered up purchasing a bred mare from Trippcrest, Trippcrest King’s Honey, by the time the trek to Saskatchewan from Maine Jane Gray and crew had foaled this one out and re-bred the mare for a 2020 foal. Bella is out of Rossland Marcus. Honey is in foal to Belleview Crown Royal for a March 2020 baby.
Bit brisk so driving hasn’t happened since Monday. Pictured is Edelweiss Tyra who is in training for the futurity show in Brandon.
He has been here a little over a month and settling into life here. High Calibre Polar Eclipse. The first two pictures he’s in his show clothes at a Minnesota and Iowa fairs, 3rd is today with some mares in the background. We are happy to have a grey prospect finally.
The boys around here L.D.’s Simon Xanax and Janssen Farms Phoenix
This is the completed barn, ready for bedding.
Project stalls happened this weekend in the new barn, one step closer to having horses inside it! Thanks to John Anderson at True Heart Horses.
Progress is being made on the barn, the roof got lifted on yesterday in two pieces. Hopefully be all ready for breaking some horses this winter.
Caught them close to the road and all facing in the same direction which usually doesn’t happen. How many horses do you see?
Vermilion Fair 2019 #unicornhitch
Starting the day off with halter geldings this morning at the Vermilion Fair. Darren Seaman showing his 3 yr old Ju-Ly Quincy in a large group of nice geldings.
The LD Simon’s Xanax group out on pasture. Thanks to Lone Oak Percherons for making this stallion available to us (he is picture 2) and Jim and Peggy day for raising him. Roxy’s baby was being a little photogenic today as well.
