Any wresting fans out there? I had the pleasure of being on the editing team for this awesome doc, which apparently can be seen literally everywhere now. Pretty cool stuff.
Typically at this time of year, I'd be teaming up with The Gerry Hatricks to help them promote their annual PB Jam, where they donate sandwiches to Main Street Project. This year is a bit different, as we're all trying to stay safe and distant. Check out their page to see how you can help by donating money, or non-perishables to help less fortunate people. Here's the first annual promo video I made for them, showing what they did, and the impact it had.
Y'ever wake up in the morning and think, 'man, my shirts are just so last year?' We know. And luckily for you, we have the perfect solution. Red Tie Live shirts. Get two birds stoned at once by simultaneously expanding your shirt-drobe and supporting Red Tie Live so that once it's safe to do so, we can continue to brighten your existence by live-streaming Winnipeg's finest Metal, Punk, and Rock bands. These awesome shirts are made by Red Tie Live's official shirt company (yeah, that's right. We've got an official shirt company), Devine Shirt Company. You can have an official shirt company too by getting in touch with them here: http://devineshirtcompany.ca/ To order Red Tie Live shirts, email us at [email protected].
Pretty cool that this vid I recently made with Red Tie Productions is being featured on Manitoba Music. Check out the new single Centre of the 8 by Dizzy Mystics if you haven't already. Song of the year in my completely unbiased opinion
I was absent from FB last week when this was released, but I'm sharing the YouTube link now, in case anyone hasn't seen it yet. This video was a pleasure to work on, and so satisfying to finish. Hope you enjoy.
This Friday! Super pumped for this awesome tune to be released. Here's another teaser for your ears.
Behind the scenes of the Centre Of The 8 live-off-the-floor video shoot with Red Tie Productions Red Tie Live and Dizzy Mystics.
We had some fun at the recent Red Tie Live photo shoot to promote our new shirts made by Devine Shirt Company. Here's a few behind the scenes photos from that shoot.
This full video drops next Friday!
woah hey hey! Some news from the Dizzy Mystics camp coming tomorrow. Wonder what it could be? Hey hey woah.
Isn't this cool! The film I helped make was featured on CTV! Congrats to Boogaloo Film on a successful production.
Can't wait for this one to drop. I'm super proud of how this turned out, and extremely happy to be a part of this awesome single release in the form of a live-off-the-floor music vid.
Shooting an interview. Just another day at the office.....of the mayor!
Put the film poster up in my office. Can't wait to fill that empty space with more!
***SUBMISSIONS CLOSED*** We had some really great bands submit this year, and we have tough decisions to make in the next few days. Clint and I will be meeting soon to discuss the upcoming season, and we'll be sending out invites to the selected bands next week. Thanks to everyone who submitted. We wish we could give all of you the platform you deserve.
Pretty sweet day at work when you get to do lighting in this beauty of a venue.
Something big cometh. But this is all I can show you...for now.
Holy gear! Big gear for a big job.
Here's a random selection of work pics from the last month or so for throwback Thursday. Yeah, the pinwheel day wasn't the greatest day.
With it being Fall, I can't not share this fun, almost satirical take on B-horror we made last year for Six Pines. All shoots should be this much fun.
Our film premieres this weekend at Cinematheque! It's been a long road, and lots of work, but Boogaloo Film and I finally get to sit back and bask in the accomplishment. For those Bell MTS cable customers, watch for it on Fibe TV 1 in the next few weeks!
Throw back Thursday. Everyone go subscribe to Red Tie Live's YouTube page!
Winnipeg bands! Make sure to get your submissions in asap.
We got to hang out with the cows again today. Lights, camera, teleprompter, live bovine audience. Man I love my job!
Subscribe to Red Tie Live's YouTube channel.
This was work today. @Scott Carnegie helped out and took a few BTS pics. But easily the highlight was meeting all the cows!
Its nice to be back on a film poster! Can't wait for the premiere.
Exciting! Can't wait to show off all our hard work.
Wear the mask, work the camera. From a recent shoot with Scott A. Carnegie
Hey everyone! The full Red Tie Live Crew would like to thank all of our sponsors, fans, and of course the bands! We could not do this without you. Here is a video put together by one of our producers, Sean Perrun, which tells a bit about us! We have big plans for season 3, so stay tuned!
Doin stuff and plannin things with Mr. Clint Chaboyer.
We're creating something fun, and hopefully our idea will get picked up so we can create more fun things.
Okay, maybe I took a few too many pics from Saturday's gig, but how could I not with that gorgeous lighting going on? Big thanks to @Chris Gaudry and 4/4 Films for having me on the crew.
Pretty cool review of a song for which I made a music video too. https://youtu.be/xYoDI-gvaro
Another day on set with Sugar Cube Entertainment. Good times, and a job well done, if I don't say so m'self.
Operating camera today for Sugar Cube Entertainment
Masking up for the shoot today. Stay safe out there!
Writing a shot list is about as glamorous as it sounds, and right up there with writing a budget on the fun scale. But if you don't have these things going into a production, then your final piece will never lift you to a position to be glamorous anyway. In other words, a necessary evil.
I knew I'd find a way to inject myself into this film! Here's a screenshot of my reflection in Justyn's goggles during a shoot for our film No Roadblocks Just Detours. Coming soon!
This just in! It's going to be a bit before I'm ready to use this beast, as it will require a bit of self-training. Exciting piece of gear, though.
Running the live stream of Bankside Music Festival with our awesome crew at Red Tie Live was equal parts and honour, a privilege, and a blast! The streams had great sound, great vis, and have been racking up the views in the past few days since the event. What a time, and I cant thank everyone enough.
Just made a pretty exciting gear purchase. Pics and test vids to come! Cant wait to try out the new toyI mean...tool. It's a tool, guys.
It's great to be talking with local musicians again after the long lockdown. Watch this interview with Death Cassette, and dont forget to catch their set live on Red Tie Live tomorrow at 4pm. This will be our long awaited season finale before we regroup and plan season 3, where we'll feature many more local bands of the heavy and nasty variety.
That time me and Miikka were interviewed in our own house.
Un autre fois, en francais
It's good to be back at work. A fun say in the sun on a shoot that's en francais.
Sidekick riding shotgun this beautiful afternoon with a lost of external beauty shots to get. It's nice to be working again.
Pretty pumped to finally have a home office set up at least semi-proper. Only took about 4 years. Ready to get back at it!
Oh man, I can't believe I almost forgot to share this one. This will likely be the lastbut certainly not leastof my music related video re-share campaign. A self-advertising campaign that was executed with the utmost seriousness in planning and scheduling (obviously). Today, I'm featuring the music video from The Gerry Hatricks for their tune PB Jam. If this song were a person, you'd likely say, 'wow that person doesn't take them self too seriously at all, all the while mai...ntaining some pretty technical good looks.' And you might say the same about the video too. For instance, in the beginning of the video, you'll notice a long one-shot. These are pretty tough to execute. This one in particular was super technical and probably took close to two-dozen takes to nail. Why so many, you might ask? Well, when you add motion to the mix, as we did, it ups the level of technicality. Also, take note of where the bassist is positioned in one part of the shot, then take note of who the 'bartender' is when Gerrit Delaquis takes his badass shots of chocolate milk. Fun, eh? Anyways, this was a super fun shoot, with a super nice, and cool crew of people. Hoping to do more of these music videos with y'all very soon.
When you're still observing quarantine, but are also looking forward to the future, so you turn your living room into a studio... Stay tuned.
A highlight reel can be a cost effective way to have live footage, and great content for your band's social pages. It's also a great way to re-share content, as I've been doing throughout this shut down. On today's edition of 'recycled content,' here's the highlight reel video I shot for Inflikted a while back at the Windsor.
For today's "recycled content" post, I'm going to go back to the second episode of Red Tie Live featuring Witchtrip. Here's a song cut out from the live stream, but if you want to see the full concert they did on our show, and I think you do, head on over to the Red Tie Live page and giver a whirl.
A year ago or so, I had the pleasure of shooting an unplugged session with Rhianna Rae Saj. We shot this in the beautiful Crescent Fort Rouge church, pretty much in the middle of the night. Yes, it was a bit creepy. Yes, we heard some stuff moving about. Today's re-share is the song Hyde, by Rhianna Rae Saj. Check it out.
Here's a re-share of the most recent work I did with The Gerry Hatricks. This is round two, the second annual sandwich donation drive they put on, and I compiled a docu-style video to help raise some awareness. I've done a lot of work with this band, and look forward to working with them a lot more once the world returns to normal.
Continuing on with my bid to stay somewhat relevant during this shutdown by sharing the music related videos I've made, here's one from last year's Road To RFM, put on by Red Tie Productions. Live concert videos are a big part of what I do, whether it's live streaming with Red Tie Live, or filming bands perform live sets at venues, or shooting music videos with live recorded audio. This video was actually a prize as part of Sean Perrun Videography's sponsorship of the Road ...To RFM show, which took place May 17th, 2019. Please enjoy Ronnie Ladobruk and The Electric playing To A Better Day live at the Park Theatre.
Today was to be Red Tie Live day. By noon, I'd typically be running cables, and setting up cameras. By this point in the afternoon, we'd be testing out the stream, and putting the final sharpening on our blades. Because we had to cancel this month's episode, I thought that it would be cool to go back to the beginning of season 2 of Red Tie Live, and share a cut from that first episode. Here's Imprismed, by the mighty VOTOV
Getting back to re-sharing some favourite music and music related videos, here's one we did with the The Gerry Hatricks back around christmas time 2018. This was the year that I decided it was possible for me to make a living doing video production. Before then, I was sort of testing the waters, as it were. But 2018 was a great year, and one where I saw enough success to be able to volunteer my time to this amazing cause, to try to help spread the word about what these great peeps in this band were doing to try to help people. It also kind of turned into a bit of a behind the scenes for the music video we shot (watch for Kyle Halldorson and his epic hustle to change "wardrobe" during a really long one-shot).
Continuing on with re-sharing music, and music related videos that I've worked on, here's Rame A La Rencontre from March of 2 years ago!
Yesterday I re-shared my first scripted music video. Today, my most recent scripted music video. Dizzy Mystics - The Frequent See, Consistent Seas This video was a real team effort to pull off the storytelling and cool visuals, and I certainly couldn't have done it alone. So another big thanks to all those mentioned below in the original post.... Lots more music vids to share in the upcoming days!
With most of my current and near future work getting cancelled or postponed, I thought I'd start re-sharing some of my favourite music work I've done over the past few years. This video feels like the perfect place to begin. Dark Messiah - No Soul To Sell. This was the first scripted music video I made. We did the bulk of the filming over night at CFR. I don't think I got home until 3:30 in the morning lol. Good times!
Out filming some sled racing in Beausejour for Boogaloo Film. These folks are crazy fast.
Our monthly behind-the-scenes video at Red Tie Live featuring Bears With Technology. Big thanks to Sugar Cube Entertainment for filling in to shoot this one.
Facebook is telling me I havent shared in a while, but rest assured, I've been busy. Heres a few pics from a recent shoot. The interview was shot in Winnipeg yesterday, and the wolf is from Thompson a couple weeks ago.
Leg 2: Day 5: interviews in Nelson House and Thompson. Check out the puppers I made freinds with!
Leg 2: Day 4: Snow Lake. No, they didnt let us go underground, unfortunately.
Leg 2: Day 3: The Pas. Did some shooting inside the paper mill, then arrived in Snow Lake to visit the mine tomorrow morning.
Leg 2: Day 2: Flin Flon! Heading to The Pas for more.
Leg 2: Day 1: all highway. Just over 8 hours to Flin Flon Manitoba. Not pictured, Flin Flon Manitoba. Its night time.
Leg 1: Day 4: PLaP. Thus ends the western Manitoba trip. We leave for north-western MB Sunday morning! Any time I'm in Portage and have the time, gotta stop at Jimmy's for a fat boy.
Leg 1: Day 3: Brandon. Tomorrow, full day in Portage, then home for a couple days before heading up north.
