I understand that this is a difficult time for many businesses in Spruce Grove and Stony Plain, and it is especially tough for the businesses that are shut down. That is why we have responded with extra supports to help businesses affected by the public health orders. Please to go https://www.alberta.ca/sme-relaunch-grant.aspx to see if your business is eligible for the Small and Medium Enterprise Grant.

I am very happy to see that more health care workers will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine! This will include paramedics, respiratory therapists, long-term care workers, home care workers and health care workers in various medical units and departments. Great to see!

As many of you know, I spent years working at the power plants west of our riding as a tradesman and at the expansions at Genesee and Keephills. Here are some wonderful paintings and pictures of the hardworking men and women who worked at the mines, supplying coal for those plants before the mines were prematurely shut down. Thank you Reg Faulkner for showcasing these pictures! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/

Last week I had the pleasure of connecting with local business owners in Spruce Grove, and how COVID-19 has affected their business, along with challenges they have had to face in 2020. I had the pleasure of connecting with Maureen Lipiec, owner of Woodland Quilting. Maureen turned her passion into a business 23 years ago right here in Spruce Grove, and continues to serve the quilting / sewing community through this pandemic. Her store became a materials hotspot for mask making; they create ready - to - sew quilting kits, and offer curbside pickup for those who need it. It was no surprise to see the Oilers quilting kits sold out, but luckily she still has material for Alberta's best team. #supportlocal #quiltersofinstagram #woodlandquilting

The federal gun ban affects countless individuals and businesses in Alberta, and we want to hear your thoughts about provincial firearms policy. The Alberta Firearms Advisory Committee is holding a telephone townhall on November 23rd from 7pm - 9pm. Each town hall can accommodate 1,000 participants, so I encourage anyone that is interested to pre-register at https://www.alberta.ca/alberta-firearms-advisory-committee.... You can also provide your input through our new public survey at https://extranet.gov.ab.ca/opinio6/s?s=50964

It was a late finish tonight at the Legislature with session shutting down just after 1:00am. Unfortunaty with the caffeine trying to keep you up it’s hard to wind down after a long day that started at 8:00 am. So I decided to drive around the riding late at night, thinking of the families and businesses that are depending on me to represent them well in Edmonton. My drive took me past two of my favourite spots in the riding... the Ken Morrison Splash Park in Spruce Grove th...at I fought so hard to get built while I was on City Council, and Rotary Park in Stony Plain where I have had more family pictures than I can count over the last 25 years. For the privilidge of serving I thank the residents of Spruce Grove and Stony Plain, and it is a responsibility that I want you to know that I do not take lightly. Have a good night everyone.... Sincerely S
