Community Collection Points We’ve been speaking with the NorPen Regional Service Board over the past couple of weeks and we are very excited to announce that we will be partnering with them to keep your plastic bottle caps out of landfills! One of NorPen’s Waste Diversion Programs involves the collection of straws, stoppers & caps which they then use to create beautiful murals in schools. They share our vision for a #GreenerNL & are working hard to improve waste diversio...n in their area. Throughout the year, they collect more plastic bottle caps than they can use and that’s where we come in! We will be recycling their excess plastic caps & transforming them into new products right here in Newfoundland You will now be able to drop off your plastic bottle caps at any of the following locations on the Northern Peninsula: St. Anthony Landfill Site, Hawkes Bay Landfill Site, St. Barbes Landfill Site, Roddickton Landfill Site & the NorPen Regional Service Board Office in St. Anthony. Community Collection Point Were happy to announce that we have a new community collection point! You can now drop off your rinsed plastic bottle caps at the Paradise Green Depot on Kenmount Rd. Our collection bin is to your left as you enter the main entrance of the building. The bin is available during the normal operating hours of the depot. We do want to clarify that the Paradise Green Depot asks that bottle caps please be removed before you bring your recyclables to... the facility. We are super excited to announce that our plastic bottle cap collection bin has been dropped off and setup at the @sjfmnl This is the first step in our local plastic recycling project and were excited to get the ball rolling. Our goal is to collect various common plastics (starting with plastic bottle caps/lids) and recycle them right here in Newfoundland! Weve chosen to focus on plastic bottle caps because they are a very common source of plastic pollution an...d most recycling systems avoid them for various reasons. As such, these caps are often sent to landfills or end up in our waterways and oceans (all around the world). We plan on expanding the variety of plastic products we will collect and recycle, but for the time being our focus is on the plastic bottle caps and lids So if youre interested in upping your recycling game, and would like to ensure your plastic bottle caps and lids get recycled, all you have to do is stop by the @sjfmnl with your collected caps and drop them into our collection bin! On Saturday (Nov.9th), we will be setup at the Holly Jolly Christmas market in Gander. The e...vent runs from 10-3pm and will be held in the Gander Arts & Culture Centre. This is a great chance for folks outside the St.Johns area to check out our 100% recycled clothing. . Lastly, on Sunday (Nov. 10th) we will be participating in the Winter Wonderland market put off by @milestonepromotionsnl . The event runs from 10-5pm at the Holiday Inn on Portugal Cove road.
