Are you kids bored yet? We are hosting a virtual fishing derby starting on Friday. What is a virtual fishing derby? Good question. Its a derby where your kid...s can participate in a fishing derby but submitting their photos of their catch. The kids with the most fish wins. Every fish will need to have a picture taken, whether it is one fish or 5 fish in one photo. If you catch 5 fish Friday, 5 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday, 2 on Monday, you will have 14 fish total. You can keep your fish in a bucket and release after taking photos of them. As long as there is proof. The derby is $5 per entry. 12 and under & 16 and under divisions. April 6, 2020 To our valued Sea Sport Customers: We are adjusting our days of operation so that we may continue to serve the Prince Rupert community as best we can during the COVID-19 State of Emergency.... We will be closing our retail sales floor on Mondays until further notice. The Service Department will be staffed on Mondays, please ring the buzzer or phone ahead for entry. The Marine and Clothing departments will have staff answering the phone and email to cover emergency needs. Our retail sales floor (Marine and Clothing) will be open: 8:30am -5:30pm Tuesday - Friday; 9am - 5pm Saturday until further notice. We continue to have conditional entry into the building based on guidance from the Government of Canada, Province of British Columbia and Northern Health: Do not come to the store if you are symptomatic. This includes: Fever, cough, sneezing, sore throat, runny nose, congestion, severe weakness. Limit 2 customers on the retail floor to ensure physical distancing. Our store is tightly packed and full of blind corners, we have slowly brought the number down to what we can safely accommodate and maintain physical distancing. We may allow one additional person in at our discretion depending on which departments the other two are located. You will be escorted or directed at a minimum 2 meter distance by a staff member. You MUST use hand sanitizer (provided) or put on fresh gloves (bring your own) before entering the sales floor. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please be considerate. MARCH 24, 2020 UPDATE: To our valued Sea Sport Customers: We are open during the Declared State of Emergency with a 2 customer limit on the retail floor. Please abide by the conditions posted at the Marine entrance or you will be asked to leave.... Our Service Department is also open, with a 1 person limit in the Service Reception area, please stay behind the barrier. The Clothing side of the store is locked. Life jackets, safety and work gear are available by accessing them through the Marine side. We ask that you phone ahead when possible to make sure we have what you need prior to arrival and to prevent any unnecessary outings. We service and supply a number of organizations that must continue operations during the State of Emergency including the RCMP, Canadian Coast Guard, the City of Prince Rupert Fire Department, Marine and Ground Search and Rescue -- and more -- so we will maintain a presence at our facilities, but with reduced staff and extra precautions in place to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. We also supply the unique needs of Prince Rupert and NW BC Marine-based businesses that must also continue operations and maintain equipment during the pandemic. We will continue to attend those needs as best we can via Telephone and email, but with reduced staff -- so please be patient and limit your contact to essential and/or critical needs. We can take credit card payments by phone or accept e-transfers and arrange shipping, delivery or pick-up of what you need to keep yourself safe and your boat afloat during these uncertain times.
