Today for Mobility Monday, let’s give some love to our feet. Place ball under your arch... think about your foot having an inside arch and an outside arch. Roll from the base of your toe to your heel on the inside... 10 rolls... then switch to the outside (x 10). Be gentle with the foot, it should feel good! As always... rememberb to BREATHE for maximum release. Inhale x 4 seconds. Hold x 1 sec. Exhale x 4 seconds... repeat! Connecting with your breath is the only way to ensure you get the release you need! Rain or shine... or snow, running is a year round thing. Did you know 8 out of 10 runners will suffer from a running injury every year? Of course, nobody goes for a run with the intention of hurting themselves , but according to the runner and sports podiatrist Stephen Pribut, D.P.M., people tend to not consider the "terrible toos"doing too much, too soon, too fast. Every research paper and every expert agrees that this"training errors"is the number one cause of self-infl...icted running injuries. The body needs time to adapt from training changes and jumps in mileage or intensity. Muscles and joints need recovery time so they can recover and handle more training demands. If you rush that process, you could break down rather than build up. Karen is our running expert physio here at Sea to sky Sports physio. Make sure to book in with her for prevention and to help with old and new injuries, you will not regret it! www.seatoskyphysio.com reference: www.runnersworld.com . . . #squamish #squamishrunning #squamishtraining #seatoskysportsphysio #running #runnersworld #seatoskyrunner #runninginjuries #injuryprevention See more

Who needs a foam roller when you have a shin bone! This is a creative and effective way to roll your calf.. ideally on your @andy_anissimoff mat... in your 4 point position, you can get good leverage onto the calf muscle and putting pressure at the top of the calf and rolling down towards your ankle.... #rollandrelease #mobilitymonday #breatheandroll #holdandrelease #movementismedicine #seatoskysportsphysio

Happy Monday everybody!! This week on #MobilityMonday we’re doing something for all you runners and hikers out there. Rolling your shins is a great way to release your right shins and help prevent shin splints. ... Place your foam roller just below your knee cap and slowly roll down to your ankle. Roll up and down slowly until you feel release. As always... remember to BREATHE for maximum release. Inhale x 4 seconds. Hold x 1 sec. Exhale x 4 seconds... repeat! Connecting with your breath is the only way to ensure you get the release you need! Happy Monday everybody and welcome back to your favourite Instagram series!! This #MobilityMonday is stepping it up a notch. But just a little. This week’s is a hip flexor ball release and it will target the ever so neglected hip flexor and TFL. Simply place a ball (something firm, balls available for purchase at the clinic) at the top of your thigh. Shop around a little to find the tightest muscles (you’ll know when you find them, trust us) and then bend and straighten you...r knee, slowly. Keeping the same breath count as always: in for 4 seconds, hold breath for 1-2seconds, and then exhale for 4 seconds. Do this for 30-60 or until you feel muscle zone release. Get in there and dig people!

Hello all you movers and shakers! Or should I say stretchers and rollers... #MobilityMonday is here again and we’ve got another classic for ya! Targeting your hip flexors and quads, this rollout will help out all of you bikers and desk jockeys. Simply place the roller underneath one leg and roll all the way from your groin down to your kneecap. Move up and down slowly for a few minutes. The heat and friction created will help release the adhesions in your thigh muscles. ... Try and keep working that breathe count with a 4 seconds inhale/exhale and a 1-2 second hold. Also don’t forget that all pictured mobility equipment is available for purchase in the clinic.

Keeping the roller rolling this week for #MobilityMonday! One of our favourite releases to do after a long day in the mountains is the glute foam roll. This targets your glutes, piriformis, and hip rotators. Start by sitting on the roller and rotate out about 30 degrees to find your glute in the soft tissue zone around your pelvis. Once you’ve found it (you’ll know when you have) hang out there for a little bit before you start to slowly move up/down and back/forth. ... Try keeping the same breathing cycle that you used in last week’s Mobility Monday; 4 seconds in, hold for 1-2 seconds, and 4 seconds out. After a couple minutes of this one you’ll feel a good release or your money back guaranteed!!

Use your arms to help lift your torso a bit and slowly move back and forth/up and down. Also remember to BREATHE! (Try breathing IN for 4 seconds, hold for 2 seconds and then OUT for 4 seconds).
