We’re proud to announce another two completions of the #defigratteciel2020 High Rise Challenge for Muscular Dystrophy Canada! Coastal Fire Team members Steven Achterberg and Mark Walter completed an equivalent elevation hike of 46 floors up Dusty Road this morning. The Sechelt Volunteer Firefighters Association was approached by Muscular Dystrophy Canada to build a team to partcipate in the DÉFI GRATTE-CIEL High Rise Challenge. Normally the challenge consists of competitors from over 250 fire departments from all over Quebec climbing 46 flights of stairs with 50lbs of gear to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. Due to the event being unable to be performed in person this year it became a nationwide virtual event! Without buildings that... tall we have had to get creative and find ways to complete this challenge using the landscape our beautiful home has to offer. Watch this amazing submission by Tyrel Brackett, it's truly one of a kind! #defigratteciel2020 Muscular Dystrophy Canada If you want to check on and support your favourite firefighters' click the Coastal Fire Team link below. https://muscle.akaraisin.com//defigratteciel20/team/302870 Keep tuned in to see more of your Coastal Firefighters hitting the beaches, mountains and streets in support of this great event.

Thank you to Shelter Point Distillery in Campbell River for supplying emergency services with sanitizer! We were getting really low when we received this 20L tote. So wonderful that you shut down your regular brewing to make sanitizer! #shelterpointdistillary

Battery recycling is easy and convenient thanks to Call2Recycle, a provincially regulated, not-for-profit battery recycling program dedicated to the safe collection and recycling of used batteries. Call2Recycle collects batteries at thousands of locations across Canada, including many leading retailers and municipal depots. To find the most convenient drop-off location for you, visit www.call2recycle.ca/locator and type in your postal code. When Daylight Saving Time begins, g...ather the old batteries from your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors along with used batteries from toys, remotes, game consoles, headsets and other household items in your home. Once collected, place each battery in its own clear plastic bag and then place all of the bags in a non-metal storage container. These are important safety steps! When the batteries are safely prepared, take them to a Call2Recycle collection location. See more
