KAREN is our SEED Volunteer of the week! Karen has been a grocery box packer since the early days of the Emergency Food Home Delivery Program, and is now helping out packing for our new program, Groceries from the SEED. She comes from a long line of giving-backers, and it shows in the lively, upbeat energy that she brings to our team of volunteers and her readiness to roll up her sleeves and get to work. Thanks Karen! Name: Karen Kent... Hometown: Waterloo Volunteer Role: Packing Grocery Boxes Favourite Junk Food: Chips & wine Favourite Part of Volunteering: "It gives me a peaceful easy feeling. JOANNE and WARREN are our SEED volunteers of the week! Joanne and Warren make an amazing driver team! They are extremely dedicated and are always willing to help out with extra deliveries in any way they can. They are always smiling through their masks, and brighten the warehouse with their spirits when they come to make their deliveries. It’s a pleasure having them as volunteers. Thank you, Joanne and Warren! Name: Joanne Hamilton and Warren Hamilton... Hometown: "We were born in different countries, have moved many times but Guelph is our hometown now and we love it. To us 'Home is where the heart is'." Favourite Junk Food: Pizza, and ice cream for dessert. Volunteer Role: Home Delivery Drivers Favourite part of Volunteering: "Knowing we may have made a difference in our neighbours' difficult times. The appreciation expressed by our recipients. One young recipient waved to us and, seeing our white hair, said, 'Thank you, Momma'. It put a huge smile on our faces. Volunteering with The SEED has been an absolute pleasure especially in this isolation time. We have a reason to get out with minimal people contact." Why food access matters: "We like to eat so we are glad we can share that with others." #seedvolunteeroftheweek The SEED is supported by hundreds of awesome volunteers!
