Big thank you to my cousin April, and the staff and students at Walkerville Collegiate Institute for inviting me to come out and lead a yoga class during their Mental Health Awareness Week! This class was open to both staff and students and I must say we had almost an equal balance of both who attended. We had 30 minutes, so my goal for this class was to keep the sequence simple, focussing on basic strength and restorative postures, and basic breath work, to help create some ...movement, increase self awareness, and provide a moment for them to just slow down, reconnect, and recharge. I left really loving this class, and I think it’s because it was such a clear example that it doesn’t really matter how old you are, who you think you are, or even what situation you’re in, we all benefit when we can stop, take a breath, reconnect, and balance out our energy.
