Earlier this week, Jenna Lorente, a Laurier Kinesiology student, lost their life while at home for exam study days. Our hearts go out to Jenna, to their family ...and friends, and to other folks who may be struggling with mental health as we head into exam period. Post secondary is stressful. The pressure that is placed on students is enormous. And there is often a huge lack of resources to support folks going through difficult times. Both during exam times but all other times of the year as well. For anyone struggling with course loads, responsibilities and obligations - both inside the university and out - we want you to know that you are worth so much more than your grades. You are worth so much more than your productivity level. You are worth so much more than what you are currently able to offer to the capitalist system. Your life is important. You are important. It is okay to take breaks. It's okay to have hard days. And it's okay to ask for support. Let's check on our communities and show up for each other as best as we can. Now and always.
