Labour costs might be the last thing you consider when selecting a cultivarbut they shouldn’t be. Plant height, width, density, bud structure, branching structure and even pruning rate can dramatically affect how labour intensive a cultivar can be, and therefore how profitable it is for your business. Segra’s sales team has an in-depth knowledge of our genetic catalogue and can work with you to build out a portfolio that will minimize your input to maximize your profit. Just 10 years ago, Cannabis was a prohibited substance in all 50 U.S. states. But with ballot measures last week, U.S. voters opted to legalize recreational marijuana use in Arizona, Montana, New Jersey, and South Dakota, bringing the total to 15 states. Medical marijuana use is now legal in 35 states, with Mississippi and South Dakota the latest to join. This is huge news for our community, and we look forward to engaging with new partners across these states in the future. This quick article from The New York Times offers more insight on how this win will impact the Cannabis industry: https://www.nytimes.com//s/marijuana-legalization-usa.html
Innovation matters so much to us that nothing escapes our focusnot even how we wash dishes. Each of our glass propagation jars needs to be completely sterilized in between uses, requiring time and sensitive handling procedures. Segra worked with Dr. Edward Park and his team at Simon Fraser University to fully automate the process at 780 jars/hour saving time and better allowing us to deliver plantlets at scale when you need them. At Segra, we are driven by innovation. Through Plant Tissue Culture, we can help you avoid the costly, risky and inefficient pitfalls of traditional cannabis propagation by providing plantlets at commercial scale. When a cultivar is initiated into PTC, it essentially outruns the viruses and bacteria that naturally accumulate over time - stripping these pathogens from the plant and leaving you with a fully reinvigorated cultivar that will perform exactly as you expect. Collaborate with our team to try one of Segra’s cultivars for a low-risk introduction to PTC technology! Last month, we shipped a total of 5,000 plantlets to an Ontario LP as part of a large-scale discovery program. This grower will work closely with Segra to better harness the power of PTC to amplify their grow using Segra cultivars. Well established in other aspects of agricultural breeding programs, Marker Assisted Selection (MAS) works on a relatively simple principle. Many physically expressed traits (phenotypes) are influenced by variant sequence forms (alleles) of single genes" Learn more about marker assisted selection from Segra’s CSO, Dr. John Brunstein in the latest issue of Cannabis & Tech Today! https://cannatechtoday.com/spring-2020-issue-sign-up/
