Self-Awareness is one of the important and first keys to Self-Love. If we don’t know who we are or what we are doing, thinking, or feeling, it’s really hard to figure out the best path to loving ourselves. ... Autopilot is easy in some ways because it feels familiar and comfortable, but it comes with a price of only being half alive and only getting half of what you really want in life. Comfortable and familiar does not equal the best things for us. I don’t know about you, but I want to be fully awake with the opportunity to have whatever I want. That means looking under the hood. If you’re struggling with an unhappy relationship or career where you go to bed with dread and wake up with the thought and feeling is this all there is, and you can’t see a way out, maybe it’s time to shift your thoughts and awareness somewhere else? Focus your attention away from the external distractions and onto you for a while. You deserve the time and attention. You deserve to feel the peace and joy of living your best life. Ready to start? Here are 5 things you can start doing today. Adopt an attitude of curiosity. When you have feelings come up or have an interaction with someone that doesn’t go well, ask yourself (from a place of love, not judgement) What was my part in this?, Is there something I could have done differently? Ask others how they see you. Ask your friends and family what they see in you, share with them you are trying to learn more about yourself. Keeping in mind it’s their perception of you and it’s just information. Look in the mirror literally. Look into your eyes and say Hey! Who are you? Again, doing this from a place of playful love and curiosity, not judgement of yourself. If you struggle with knowing what you are feeling, find yourself a feelings list (Google has lots) and practice checking in with the different feelings listed. Ive had to do this myself so I know it works. Lastly remember you are worth it. Worth getting to know, worth loving and worth the time and effort it takes to love yourself.

This is a manifesto I used to take to my in-person workshops before COVID. I would ask people to give it some color and love as they left the workshop. Every time I look at it brings joy and a smile to my heart. It feels like a perfect metaphor for self-love with its unfinished colors and somewhat messy appearance. The truth is that’s why I love it so much because self-love can definitely be messy at times. As we learn to speak up for ourselves, set boundaries and have ... compassion for ourselves there are often colorful bumps on the road. It reminds me that it’s a path and practice and it’s okay to go outside of the lines. I don’t need to have it all figured out I just need to keep walking back to myself. So now I’m curious... What do you see when you look at my self-love manifesto? What would you add? See more
