The PCs have got to fix the vaccine rollout. The vaccine campaign is our way out of the terrible health impacts of the pandemic and the mental health and econom...ic impacts of the lockdown. The stakes are high, get the vaccine plan fixed and speaking on behalf of Manitobans give us a break See more

Only 70% of Manitobans will get vaccinated this year? Disappointing because we all want to end the pandemic. The PM has said the doses will be available so we’ve got to see the PCs improve the vaccine plan & listen to the front line workers

Selkirk NDP 07.01.2021

They can shuffle the cabinet all they want but we know they’ll take the same approach and make the same mistakes - putting money ahead of people. We need a better pandemic response and a quicker vaccine rollout

"The No. 1 concern Manitobans should have about their government next year is, is this government going to continue to put money ahead of people," says NDP Leader Wab Kinew.

The PCs closed the Roblin ER. Its so important to keep letting the government know you disagree with this decision. Theres a chance they reverse the decision but the longer it stays closed the harder it will be to bring it back. Rural MB deserves good health care!

"On August 27, 2020, the membership voted to accept the latest offer bargained with the employer. The bargaining committee was able to achieve a wage increase t...hat was approximately 50% higher than the offer rejected on June 19. [...] The agreement comes after a challenging round of bargaining with Black Cat Wear Parts, said Stephen Hunt, USW District 3 Director. Throughout the lockout, our members demonstrated the true meaning of solidarity and I thank all of the members and their families for their support during the lockout. I am proud that Steelworkers stood together to support the work of the bargaining committee and the Local 9074-12 leadership. Full release at: http://usw.to/3ec #USWWorks #USWUnity #canlab

Weve got anti-vaxxers managing the pandemic in Mr Pallisters government? Unreal.

Manitoba is falling behind on supporting workers. Poor wages, no benefits and no scheduling laws or protections are failing working people trying hard to get by.

Our plan for a safe return to school: 1) Cap class sizes at 15 students and hire more teachers to do it 2) Build more class spaces (while protecting school base...d child care spaces) 3) Provide protective equipment for students, staff and teachers 4) Invest in stronger mental health supports for all students 5) Invest in busing so that every kid can get to school in a safe, socially distanced manner Read our full plan here: https://bit.ly/31P9Avx

Last month, the Selkirk constituency held an Education town-hall with NDP Leader Wab Kinew and local teachers. Discussion was brisk and centred around how we get students back to school this fall, safely. Wab Kinew and the Manitoba NDP are pushing the Pallister government to invest additional education funding in order to cap class sizes at 15 students, hire more teachers, build more class spaces and expand mental health and PPE supports across the province. Specifically: 1)... Cap class sizes at 15 students and hire more teachers to do it 2) Build more class spaces (while protecting school based child care spaces) 3) Provide protective equipment for students, staff and teachers 4) Invest in stronger mental health supports for all students 5) Invest in busing so that every kid can get to school in a safe, socially distanced manner "After four years of cuts to public schools and massive layoffs of educators and support staff, our classrooms are crowded and our teachers are overworked. Our plan makes real investments to help keep kids safe, support teachers and educators, and protect schools against a COVID-19 outbreak, said Kinew. "Thats why were asking the PCs to take the $188 Million in COVID money theyve set aside but not spent and use it to make schools safe for all of our kids." A message from the Provincial office of the Manitoba NDP Hello New Democrats, After over 20 years, the time has come to close the doors on Provincial Office at Somerset Place at Portage and Donald in Winnipeg.... Effective Monday, August 17th we will have relocated to our new office at Portage and Arlington in Winnipeg, at our new address: Manitoba NDP Provincial Office 878 Portage Avenue Winnipeg, MB R3G 0P1 Our phone number remains the same at 204-987-4857 or toll-free at 1-877-863-2976, and our primary email remains [email protected] We wont actually be open to the public until later in the week as we sort out things like our internet connection dig and ourselves out of a sizable pile of boxes. Well be checking our email throughout so thats the best way to get a hold of us in the meantime. Now for some history: the Manitoba NDP first used this office space as our central campaign office during Election 99. Just over a year later, we had sold our old building and moved into this space permanently as our new Provincial office. Over the past 20 years we have been in this space, downtown Winnipeg has changed so much. From our board room we could watch as Eatons Place was torn down and Bell-MTS Place (aka the Arena) rose in its place, and we can see both Hydro Tower and True North Square peek out above our neighbours. A lot has changed over this time, and the needs of our Members and our space requirements have changed as well. We are lucky to have found a space that will be more visible and accessible to our Members and that better suit our needs. Its been a lot of work, especially with public health restrictions limiting our ability to use volunteer help. But after so many months of packing, purging and cleaning (and sending over 40 boxes of historical materials to Manitoba Archives!), we are excited to finally be moving. When it is safe to do so, well hold some sort of new office warming party! Until we see you again, stay safe out there. In Solidarity, Tim Johnson Provincial Secretary

Brandon Maple Leaf employees should be tested to guarantee their safety and the communitys. Increasing testing capacity is crucial as we get ready to head back... to school. The province urgently needs to help child care centres buy PPE and invest in precautions! Theyve got $18M unspent of their own daycare money plus tens of millions more from feds that should be going to add space, lower parent fees and buy PPE #mbpoli https://t.co/eow3Ho0Wxw

Paid sick leave will help flatten the curve. The cases in the Maple Leaf plant illustrate the dilemma workers face between following public health advice and ta...king a financial hit - workers wont receive all their pay if they self-isolate. That will only be more needed when we go back to school and parents have to stay home with kids whod envelop symptoms. This is a program the Feds are paying for and the province could implement in a day. Lets get it done Mr. Pallister. See more

Manitoba farmers, who are already struggling to keep up after flooding and high rain levels, are facing thousands of dollars of extra costs (from grain drying), NDP leader Wab Kinew said July 21. Its disappointing the province missed an opportunity to get Manitoba farmers an exemption (from the carbon tax) because they just failed to do the work.
