Kyle has played many roles over its 54 year lifespan. From passenger & cargo carrier, to military uses in WWII, to a sealing vessel in its final years. This monument in Harbour Grace still sits where it ran aground 53 years ago. Using photogrammetry, we can see the S.S. Kyle in 3D just as it sits in Conception Bay. It's water quality month! Everything from where our fish swim to what comes out of our taps - it matters to all of us. At SEM, we conduct water quality testing for multiple industrial clients to keep within provincial and federal guidelines. This ensures that we all have healthy waterways for years to come. In this video, we're retrieving an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) buoy in Labrador. The attached device uses sound waves to map currents throughout the water col...umn of the lake. This helps our clients create models of water movements in the lake, to better understand the impacts of industrial activities during what is called the "lake turnover".
