FREE ZOOM SESSIONS With lockdown in place in so many places, I thought we would do some Zoom goalkeeping sessions! Our first one was last Sunday and we had 25 goalkeepers on the call. So, I thought I’d open it up to anyone and everyone who wanted to train! Never trained with me? No problem! Never done a Zoom session before? No problem! Do you have a ball, 3 markers or cones or something that can act as a marker or cone? (your Mum’s fine china is not a good idea) Perfe...ct! Do you have a rebounder or wall to lightly throw the ball off of, or a server to help? Awesome! Do you have at least a 10’x10’ space to work in? You’re set! The sessions are on all Sundays in January, from 12:30-1:30pm Central time zone. We’ll do 30-40 minutes of ball work and then 20 minutes of a tactical talk. All ages welcome! Great Zoom session with Ivan today. Extra points for the Santa hat! It reminded me of Rocky, when he was training in Moscow to fight Ivan Drago. Another Ivan. Coincidence? I think not. Good morning everyone! I now have the dates and times locked down for the rest of September and hopefully at least some of October. We will be training on Sundays, from 10am-12pm at Memorial. The older group will be 10-11 with the younger group following, from 11-12. Cost will be the same as usual, $30 per session. I'm still working on the winter academy dates so, please bear with me while I sort that out. It's been a little tricky securing the times that I usually have at WS...F South due to Covid, but I should know fairly soon. I’m also working on an online, remote learning program for the winter. Anyway, I'll post the details below and you can get in touch with me through email, phone or social media to schedule your aspiring goalkeeper into the session(s). So I thought I’d start profiling some of the goalkeepers that I train. They’ve worked incredibly hard and deserve it. So, let’s start with Taryn Raabe. Taryn didn’t even want to play University soccer in grade ten. (Fortunately she came to her senses). As a Freshman in 2019 with the University of Winnipeg, she set the all-time saves in a season record in Can West with 113. She also was named a CanWest all-star of the week and finished the season being named her team’s MVP. No...t bad for a Freshman. Lol. Prior to 2019 she appeared in two Youth National Championships with Bonivital Soccer Club and won athlete of the year at Dakota Collegiate for three of the four years she was there. And even more importantly, she is a wonderful person and a natural leader. I’m proud to say that I’ve had the privilege to have been her goalkeeping coach since she was 12. (I think.
