Does the thought of 108 Sun Salutations intrigue you and then bring a thought of "but, I can't do that"?! I remember the first time I was presented with the opportunity of participating in 108 Sun Salutations. Overwhelming to say the least. I knew I wanted to participate. I also knew with my sense of competition (which yes, is very un-yoga-like) that I wanted to complete this event.... Well, I didn't prepare; I didn't plan; I didn't complete the 108. However, for my first 108 Celebration I did complete about 76 sun salutations. (Actually, I know that I completed exactly 76 sun salutations because, well....that competition piece again.) But more importantly I came away from the event with insight and information. What did I learn? I learned that props (blocks, blankets, walls, chairs) are there for a reason - to enhance my practice to make it more accessible, to me. I learned that I should only move with my breath. Not the person beside me who breathes faster or slower than I do - but only in time with what my body was telling me and how my body was guiding me. I learned that it's ok to take a break if my body needs one (even if that means moving in savasana and staying there for the remainder of the practice). I learned that a little bit of practice leading up to the event is a good thing. And most of all, I learned that it's a lot of fun to enjoy the event for what it is - to enjoy those around me in my community. Our 108 Sun Salutations Celebration for Winter Solstice is next Sunday (December 20th at 9:30am). I'd welcome the opportunity to be part of this event with you. Let me know if you have any questions about how, why and when. See you on your mat. #serendipityyoga #serendipitymeditation #wintersolstice #108sunsalutations #suryanamaskar #pec #yogainthecounty #experiencepicton

The Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the year. It is the turning point when we welcome the return of the light as the days begin to grow. This year we are offering three different ways to welcome the Winter Solstice. ~108 Sun Salutations at 9:30 ($20) ~Winter Solstice Meditation at 11:30 ($10)... ~Restorative Yoga at 1:00 ($20) Register for all three celebrations for an investment of $40. Here is more information about our upcoming Winter Solstice Meditation Winter Solstice Meditation @11:30am (30 minutes) - The winter solstice is a powerfully symbolic time. The sun metaphorically dies on the longest, darkest night of the year, and is reborn the next day to begin its journey to the summer solstice. The time after the winter solstice is about hope and new beginnings, the rebirth that inevitably comes after death. In the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice is a turning point as the sun reaches an all-time low. This is the longest night and shortest day of the year. While Nature is at its darkest and most introverted, we often find ourselves at our busiest. Despite the merrymaking and socializing of the holiday season, this is a soulful time to go within so we can be present for the return of the light. Within the darkness, Nature moves quietly towards spring. The winter solstice reflects the second stage of a cycle that began with the fall equinox. It involves planning and designing for the year ahead. As we celebrate through our winter solstice meditation we will focus on Nature being an intelligent, living whole. That it is an aspect of the universe of which we are an integral part. It is evolving just as we are. Whether or not we choose to connect with it consciously, we cannot help but be in a constant state of co-creation with Nature, as we are an essential part of it. All celebrations are offered InStudio and will be live streamed. Please reach out with questions or to reserve your mat space. *InStudio participation is limited to ensure physical distancing and personal attention. #wintersolstice #newbeginnings #celebration #pagan #meditation #magic #manifestation #peaceful #consciousness #nature #serendipityyoga
