Serenity Counselling 15.11.2020

With the holiday season coming, I thought it would be a great time to do some fundraising to help members of our community. The Gathering Place is a local organization that provides food, clothing, mental health support and much more to vulnerable individuals. If you're a current client, you can donate during the session. If not, you can send an e-transfer to [email protected]. I am accepting donations until December 1st and will donate 10% of my session fees for the month of November!! https://kindnesswanted.ca/

"I am slowly learning how to just be in this moment. How to exist. How to understand that I cannot control life, that I can only experience it in both its light... and its dark stages. I am slowly learning how to laugh and cry and feel through it all, how to welcome the confusion and the joy that come with loving and living and breaking. I am slowly learning how to accept where I am. I am slowly learning how to simply believe in the person I am becoming." Bianca Sparacino [Illustration : @singajelly]

Do you ever wonder why you shut down or run from things that make you feel happy?

Serenity Counselling 12.10.2020

The other day, one of you asked me, How do I get close family members to respect my boundaries, like an early bedtime for myself? I can soooo relate! But in m...y mind, there’s a flaw with how this question is set up. It’s no one’s fault; the problem is how we talk about boundaries as a society. We talk about boundaries as if they’re something we can set up and then expect other people to honor. It’s like building an invisible wall and standing on top of it just long enough to shout, Hey! This is my invisible wall! You can’t see it, and you’ll probably forget it’s here, but do NOT cross it! Then we scurry back down to our side of the wall, thinking we’ve finally done itwe’ve created safety for ourselves by putting up that wall. So how well has that worked out for ya? ;) Probably not all that well! Because our people are human (and they can’t actually SEE invisible things)! Today I’m diving into semi-controversial territory with my take on boundaries, but it’s worth it(!), because I want to put the power back in your hands! Join me here {https://ericalayne.co/set-boundaries-you-can-honor/} to learn about how to create boundaries that YOU can honor and uphold. I can’t wait to hear what you think! xo! Erica

Happy Thanksgiving!! I have so much to be grateful for every single day. I am thankful for all the love and support that surrounds me, my health, my role models and having a career that I love. I am so grateful that I get to meet people who trust me to create a safe space to share their stories and teach me so much about life. It's important that we take time often to appreciate what we have. Here are some ways you can incorporate this daily: Begin a daily gratitude journa...l: write 5 things you're grateful for that happened that day- Be Specific! Ask your family "What was your favorite thing that happened today?" during supper or bedtime Meditation and Reflection on what you're grateful for: Here's a link to a guided meditation on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/episode/6scZjj6vFXy6soS3B5Xsk7 What are you grateful for today?
