After nearly 9 years of being in our own dedicated space, Serpentine Studios is now operating both online and as a free-floating studio. After this extremely challenging and emotional year, we have decided to use this opportunity to take a break. We will be taking some time to focus on professional development and some much-needed self-care, so we can offer our students fresh and creative content when we return. We are also taking some time to regroup and brainstorm how our ...business will move forward in this changing landscape. A lot has changed in 9 years! Some of our instructors will likely be offering in-person classes again in February if provincial restrictions allow. We also look forward to providing the city with fabulous entertainment once again, when it is safe to do so! In the meantime we are very excited to announce the upcoming arrival of our brand-new website which will make signing up for online classes a breeze! We now have a huge library of classes available from our amazing local instructors. Students will be able to sign in and keep track of all their classes and their progress, all within our website! Stay tuned for the official release coming soon.

- As cases begin to rise here in Halifax, we want to assure our students that we are continuing to adhere to the strictest protocols to keep you and our instructors safe. We will be keeping an eye on any updates to the official Nova Scotia guidelines to both the Fitness and Performing arts sector, and adjusting our approach as needed. Since the pandemic began, we have been offering pre-recorded, on-demand online classes as the safest option for o...ur students. Now for our in-person classes, we are recording every class and uploading the videos to our online platform. Any students who are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 (or who need to miss class for any reason) can attend their class virtually. You also have access to these online classes for the full 8 week session, and can view the class as many times as you like during this time. In-Studio classes are strictly limited to 9 participants or less, to allow for physical distancing. We have one entry/exit so there is always 10 minutes between classes for all students to exit before new students arrive. We ask that you don’t arrive any earlier than 5 minutes before class. Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance for customers and staff to use upon entering the facility and when leaving. Masks are worn at all times except when students are in their designated spots (where distancing is maintained). We have cleaning supplies at each spot, students wipe down anything their belongings have touched and these cloths are only used once and then laundered. Our instructors teach from a small stage, so all students have good sight lines while maintaining well over 2m distance. We have switched to contactless payment - all payment is now done online. We keep track of attendance for every class, for contact tracing. The studio is cleaned frequently an thoroughly with approved virucidal cleaners. We were so happy to be able to take part in Nova Multifest again this year despite the pandemic. Since 2007 weve been producing stage shows featuring Bellydance - nothing beats the combination of backstage camaraderie and the energy from our amazing audiences! It may be a while until we can do something like this again, but rest assured we are already dreaming up the next show!
