REPORT-BACK FROM THE TORONTO SOLIDARITY RALLY FOR THE LEAGUE OF POOR PEASANTS Last Friday, a rally was held in the Little Brazil neighbourhood of Toronto, in so...lidarity with the Brazilian peasants of Camp Tiago dos Santos and the League of Poor Peasants (LCP). The action was organized by the Revolutionary Student Movement - Toronto (RSM) and attended by supporters of the Canada-Philippines Solidarity Organization - Toronto (CPSO), the People's School - Toronto, and other individuals who responded to the LCP’s call for international solidarity. Speeches were read out by the RSM and CPSO. The speaker from RSM shed light on the siege, illegal evictions, and terror perpetrated by the Brazilian State against Camp Tiago dos Santos since October 3rd. This has been a blatantly criminal retaliation, carried out on behalf of the big landowners, against the peasants' rightful struggle for land. The speaker explained why this is happening: "Brazil, like many other countries, suffers from imperialist domination, bureaucratic capitalism, and semi-feudalism. The Brazilian State plays a key role in the global system of imperialism. The imperialist order is built on blood and exploitation. It sucks the land dry of anything valuable, leaving behind only destruction. To do that, it needs to clear the land of those who live on it: the peasants. The peasants are at the front lines of the struggle against capitalism and imperialism, because their very lives depend on it." The speaker from CPSO highlighted the strong parallels between the situation in Brazil and the Philippines: "The problem of unequal ownership of land is the biggest social contradiction in the Philippines today. Peasants, who make up about 75% of the total population of the Philippines, live and work on land that is often owned by a tiny class of big landlord families or corporations. Many of these vast plantations and haciendas were formed in the era of Spanish and Portuguese colonialism. This history is shared between the Philippines and Brazil. [...] Like the LCP in Brazil, peasants in the Philippines are engaged in collective action to reclaim land and cultivate it for their own livelihood." The RSM speaker drew connections with the murderous role of Canadian imperialism in Brazil, which is home to Canada's biggest investments in South America. There are dozens of Canadian mining projects in Brazil, which are notorious for violation of the people's rights, brazen poisoning of the environment, and shoddy work practices that endanger entire communities of Indigenous peoples and peasants. The election of the fascist Jair Bolsonaro has been a further boon to Canadian imperialist interests, removing even the few insignificant barriers to super-exploitation of Brazil. The League of Poor Peasants has been at the forefront of combat and resistance against this unjust order for two decades. As the RSM speaker pointed out: "The LCP is a revolutionary organization, conquering power and transforming society wherever it goes! [...] The LCP has shown the world what the masses are capable of! They light a beacon for the downtrodden of the world, and in their time of need, it is our turn to give them what help we can." To that end, leaflets were handed to passersby which explained the plight of peasants in Brazil, the work of the LCP, and the Brazilian New Democratic movement. Links were included to the newspaper A Nova Democracia (www.anovademocracia.com.br) which is the voice of the Brazilian people’s struggle, and to the Tribune of the People (www.tribuneofthepeople.news) which is a U.S.-based revolutionary news service that has been providing invaluable English translations of articles as well as original reporting. The leaflets encouraged people to contact the RSM to help build stronger links of support in Canada for the Brazilian revolutionary movement. More importantly, the RSM speaker emphasized the main form of solidarity that we owe to the people of Brazil: to make revolution right here against the Canadian ruling class! We urge all revolutionary, progressive, and democratic people and organizations across Canada to take up the call for solidarity with the LCP. To support the LCP's heroic fight against the Brazilian State, we must strike against Canadian imperialism from within the belly of the beast. Participants closed off the rally by echoing the fighting slogans of the LCP and calling for revolutionary struggle all over the world. They loudly proclaimed: "Land for those who live and work on it! Victory to the agrarian revolution in Brazil! Victory to the new great wave of proletarian world revolution! Reconstitute the Communist Parties of the world! Drown imperialism in a sea of People's Wars! People's War until Communism!"

"As our readership would’ve certainly noticed by this point, Partisan has halted the production of articles since April 2020. This halting of articles was by no means a result of a waning of activities behind the scenes, but rather the opposite. Due to an attempt to rectify this publication on many levels, the editors of Partisan had decided to halt the production of articles in order improve the quality of said articles, the website, and the general coordination and presentation of Partisan. This decision came as a result of internal criticisms of Partisan and external criticisms as well."

Reconciliation is dead: this fact is plain to see for all. The Canadian state will fight against Indigenous liberation until its very last breath.

Stand with Six Nations! Resist the OPP and the Canadian State! Guelph citizens joined the national day of action to support the heroic Haudenosaunee land defenders with a large march and a day of pamphlet distribution to raise awareness of the struggle. Colonialism is not a thing of the past; it is an ongoing process that we do not just observe but also must fight. Although currently the State appears strong and undefeatable, this is simply not true. We look to our coll...ective past and can see great lessons from the militant land defenders and their allies. The glorious armed resistance at Kanehsata:ke, at Ts’peten, at Ipperwash and elsewhere. We look to these reference points to show that organized armed resistance with the support of the masses can win! Even against a strong imperialist State such as Canada. This year alone, the Wet’suwet’en have been resisting invasion and displacement of their land by State and big oil forces. In Nova Scotia, the Mi’kmaq are currently defending their rights to fishing and use of their resources. In Quebec, the Algonquin people have erected barricades and are fighting to preserve the withering moose population. All over this country the national liberation movement blooms and indigenous nations are forging their sovereignty and right to self-determination. The state Canadian state appears strong but we must look to our past, look at the current crisis, and to the future! We see them tremble with fear when they see the strength of a united multinational working-class movement. To borrow from our comrades, in MTL MER-RSM, only through People’s War can we be rid of colonialism and capitalism’ Victory to the Land Defenders! Down with the OPP & the Canadian State! #1492landbacklane #landback
