We've been experiencing a large volume of phone calls, and as of this morning our phone lines are down due to an outage all across Alberta and Southern BC. Although the flu season is persisting, 2019 is winding down and our doctors are taking a few days off during this festive season to spend time with their loved ones. Please note that our clinic will be closed on December 24, 25 and 26, as well as December 31 and January 1, 2020. If anyone has urgent needs, or would like prescription refills before Christmas, please contact us or book in with your family doctor on or before December 23.... NEW PHYSICIAN ACCEPTING PATIENTS: Seton Family Healthcare has a new family physician joining us from August 12. Dr Craig Gradwell joins us from Barrhead, Alberta, where he worked for the past four years after moving from South Africa with his wife, Leigh. Dr Gradwell has a passion for preventative medicine and health education. He is especially interested in the treatment and prevention of complex chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart diseases; however, he intend...s on maintaining a broad scope of practice and is currently accepting all patients. Dr Veronica Crisp will be closing her medical practice in Seton/Calgary, and will be moving on from September 6, 2019. We're sad to see her go, but we wish her all the best in her future endeavours. We're coming to the end of a busy year with many changes, and we want to thank all our patients for their support and patience throughout the year during our relocation from Cranston. We look forward to growing with everyone in the surrounding communities. FLU SHOTS FOR 2018 - flu vaccinations will be available to the public this coming Monday, October 15. They’re offered for free to adults and all kids over age 5 at the pharmacy below us, Seton Remedy’s Rx. For all other cough/cold/flu needs, Seton Family Healthcare has same-day appointments available, and we have 5 doctors accepting new patients for all your medical needs. Remember, getting the flu shot won’t stop you from getting sick, and it won’t protect you from all bugs,... but it will provide protection against the Influenza virus, where antibiotics have no effect. This Seasonal Influenza virus changes slightly every year, and although you can fight it on your own, it lowers the body’s ability to fight other infections. It’s true that flu vaccine effectiveness varies from year to year but immunization is still the best protection. We do not know how effective this year’s vaccine will be, but we do know that not being immunized offers no protection. Also, vaccination protects those around you, especially those who are more susceptible to illness.
