For most of this pandemic year, my focus has been on a deeper study of human anatomy and physiology. I have been finding new ways of teaching and communicating the intricate content online via Zoom conferences for students of the Avalon Massage Academy and thoroughly loving it! Revelations? .... Well, I passionately enjoy fine-tuning my teachings, optimizing/simplifying processes for student comprehension, and researching and writing on diverse topics for the health & wellness world. Teaming up again with osteopath @michelbabin to deliver a series of 14-hour courses on "Digestive Viscerals Massage". First course this year will be offered on ...March 15 & 22 (9-5 pm) at: AVALON MASSAGE ACADEMY @avalon_massage_academy_mtl_can Teachers: Michel Babin (Osteopath/Personal Trainer) & Gisele Seto (Multidisciplinary Yoga Bodywork & Massage Trainer) Target Student? Massage therapist or bodyworker (or one who is in-training) Objective? Initiation into the anatomy of the digestive viscerals. After this course, the student will be able to palpate and identify all digestive viscerals, and consequently devise a generalized therapeutic table massage approach to a session taking into account the digestive organs and visceral fascia. The student will be able to recognize contraindications (ie cancer, surgery, and certain pathologies) and know when to refer the client to a healthcare professional, should red flags manifest during the intake process. Students will gain enough hands-on practical knowledge to perform basic foundational manipulations, in application of the theory taught.
