With all the fear mongering and the petty insults it’s difficult to remember we have more commonalities than differences. Thinking of our American friends and hoping that love, justice, and humanity will prevail. We’re ready for darkness to yield to light.

Winter is coming and 2020 has felt like one long day. It’s been important to find peaceful places to connect with the one thing that remains largely unchanged: nature. Happy Saturday.

It’s surprising to me that despite all the turmoil our lives are as busy as everwith less real interaction. What are you doing to stay connected with colleagues, family and friends?

Apparently, no one killed Breonna Taylor. She simply died in a ‘tragedy.’ Like she had a hard fall or got hit by a bus. This apparently is the law in the State of Kentucky, according to @kyoag [Daniel] Cameron.Joy Reid #blmmovement

Last night I had a chance to give a short talk at the @shadow.ventures summit on what it means to build a business with a stakeholder lens. What opportunities are uncovered when partners, suppliers, employees, local communities, and the environment are considered when we design our business and impact models. In the words of John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods: Trade-offs and win-lose scenarios are fundamentally the result of a lack of creativity. Thanks for the lovely folks at shadow ventures and our friends @orangesparkleball for the chance to take part.

Reinventing capitalism and what a business is requires us to look beyond the trees to the entire forest. We are used to operating at ground levelamongst the treesand whilst that may feel safe it’s not what is needed from us at this time. It’s time to embrace interconnectedness and be ok with tackling complexity we can’t individually fully comprehend. It’s time to be imaginative and fearless. There isn’t time to ask for permission.

What an inspiring week it’s been. Connect with ecosystem builders from all over the world, teaching entrepreneurs about designing better businesses, sitting on a panel discussing how we can leverage our individual capacity for resilience to build better socio-economic systems, facilitating a workshop to find new pathways of collaboration in the impact investing space. It is back to school! Yay for Friday and super grateful for inspiring colleagues and friendsnew and old.

The past decade was about finding new social and innovation models on the web. The next decade will be about applying them to the real world. Chris Anderson Conveners of all kinds (foundations, government, international development agencies, universities, and ecosystem builders) have an opportunity to step in and use their influence and resources to lead the way, curating conversations and connections that foster action. It’s starting to feel like we’re approaching a corner. Businesses are opening, we’re visiting each other in small groups, we’re imagining an after. What do we want to see around that corner? What are your thoughts on how you can contribute to making real a better version of the world we lived in? How can we support democracy and local economies? How can we ensure that marginalised folks have a seat at the table to co-create this improved society? The article (link in bio) lists 5 books that help navigate the systemic mechanisms that make inequality and injustice foundational to society.

We refuse to acknowledge that our societies are based on assigning, or denying, value to people, to nations, to ideas or activities. When do we decide that the value of human life is intrinsic not earned or somehow bestowed? Here are 5 books that helped me take responsibility to understand and fight systemic racism and inequality. https://seven25.com/2020/06/03/fight-systemic-racism
