Did you know we are having a food, toy, and winter clothing drive? This is going to be a tough holiday season for many families. Please consider donating if you are able to do so: non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys, gently used or new winter clothing. Thanking you all in advance!
While we no longer have a hot breakfast due to Code Red restrictions, we do have a variety of ‘grab and go’ breakfast options available in the great room before class starts at 8:45. #healthystart
Orange Shirt Day continues at SOMet today as Luana is back to share more traditional knowledge and teachings with Cohort II. #truthandreconciliation #orangeshirtday
Mycah’s first school-based project of grade 11 is off to a great start. Today he ran a quick workshop to teach us how to cast and reel, as well as shared some valuable info about the fish we hope to catch at his upcoming fishing derby.
Today at SOMet, we acknowledged, remembered, and honored those impacted by forced residential schooling on our Indigenous Peoples for almost 170years of Canadian history.
Miigwech @luana.moar for the beautiful gift of fresh-picked wild Manitoba sage for our morning smudges. We really appreciated your traditional teachings today
Congratulations to these students for their hard work during the 2019-20 school year. They are listed for receiving an award of distinction and/or being on the honor roll. Just a reminder that tonight’s award ceremony has been cancelled due to the current COVID health measures put in place by the province. Stay safe y’all and congratulations
Today at the Seven Oaks Met School for Orange Shirt Day, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and the impacts on our society today, towards our Indigenous Peoples through the Canadian government’s assimilation policy of residential schooling which ran from 1828-1997.
Preparing tobacco bundles for Orange Shirt Day offerings for our traditional knowledge keeper as we will receive important traditional teachings tomorrow. #orangeshirtday #truthandreconciliation

Government of Manitoba Moves the Province to "Orange" - what does that mean? Friday September 25th, the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer announced that th...e Winnipeg Metropolitan Region will be moved to the Orange/Restricted level under the Province’s Pandemic Response System effective Monday, September 28, 2020. Health orders under this new level are being applied in a focused manner and do not currently change any of the measures related to schools or child care centres. This means that schools remain in the Yellow (Caution) level and will re-open for students on Monday as under the same protocols that have been place since the start of the school year. Guidance on masks in schools and on school buses remains the same. This is being closely monitored. The Department of Education is working with school divisions and education partners to ensure that as the risk level across regions of the province changes, schools are able to adapt. This may mean remote learning when the risk level increases whether at the classroom, school, or regional level. Schools have been planning for scenarios that include moving to remote learning after the lessons learned in the spring, and as the risk level increases, the system will look at ensuring there are alternatives for students and families for continued learning options during times where the risk levels are higher.
A wonderful evening spent with the grads of 2020 last night at the beautiful Fort Gibralter. The weather was perfect, the grads looked amazing (loved all the custom made masks to match their gowns), and we were thrilled to get this celebration in just in the nick of time. Once again, congratulations Graduates of 2020. This definitely is an unforgettable year
Welcome to SOMet Grad 2020
