In a week I bought enough fabric to keep me sewing for a few more months - or a few more years?? I do love the colours of Autumn, and I miss the trees of the east coast, where I grew up.

A few years ago, I was given a box of fabric by a lady. In it there was a chunk of fabric which had 5 pre-printed quilt ‘blocks’. I liked the look of them, and decided to try and remake the design from pieced fabric. First, I drew out the design on graph paper. Next, I picked from my scraps to make the purple block as a sample. I love how it came together, and will look for a line of fabrics which will work to make a quilt based on this block.

This weekend I hosted a ‘stay at home quilt retreat’ for members of one of my FB quilt pages. There were over 25 people who had expressed interest. Not all were able to do the sewing yesterday, but those who did were excited to connect via FB room. It was nice to see their faces, as well as their photos. I saw this pattern in a quilt magazine 2 weeks ago, and thought it would be a cool project for fall. It is called ‘Pumpkin Patch’, and was designed by Julie Weaver. If you are interested in making one, it was published in the August 2020 issue of Quilter’s World. You can also buy it at the QW website.

This week I have been making many masks. I need them for work - as staff in a public school - and I have been making smaller ones for the grandchildren.

This is a project which has been under construction for over 10 years. I had great trouble making the diamond shaped sashing sets. Finally got the right info, so I could work on this. I had to learn those, because there are 88 of them in the quilt.
