Your Sexsmith volunteer firefighters responded to 1 calls for service this week Call # 145, Nov 11, 15:02, Smoke Investigation in the County of GP with Mutual Aid from Teepee Creek. Shorty after we posted that the Sexsmith Elks had donated C cans for our training area, Bill with LED Services contacted us and wanted to know if his company could lend a hand with the installation and fabrication. Yesterday, his fanatic crew of Tyler, John, and Herman, the owner of LED, all came in and volunteered their time and machinery to put together a huge portion of our training area. We can’t say thank you enough to the crew for their generous donation of skills, equipment, and time. The community spirit is alive and well at LED Services!

Call # 142, Nov 3, 15:33, Medical Co-Response in Sexsmith Call # 143, Nov 4, 07:37, Mutual Aid to La Glace for a Grass Fire with La Glace and Station 14 Call # 144, Nov 5, 17:09, Medical Co-Response in the County of GP While enroute to call a few weeks ago, Rescue 511 suffered a catastrophic mechanical malfunction that permanently took it out of service. Since our new rescue truck is on order and expected to arrive in early December, it was decided not to repair the current rescue. It will be sold at auction and a rental rescue truck will take its place temporarily. Since this apparatus went into service in 2007 it has helped hundreds of people and been to thousands of calls. If it could talk, it would tell stories of Chautauqua Days and Reverse Santa Parades, excited children climbing through it, taking firefighters to calls at all hours of the day and night, and bringing them back home, exhausted but safe. Thank you for your 13 years of service Rescue 511, you will be missed.

We hope to be back to normal next year and we hope that you have a safe and happy Halloween.
