The Seymour Salmonid Society celebrated International Rivers Day at the estuary. The Society and its volunteers alongside, Metro Vancouver, the Beaver Canoe Club, and BCIT's Rivers Institute removed trash and invasive species and planted native shrubs. It was a great day and we would like to extend a special THANK YOU to Metro Vancouver and the Stave Salmonid Enhancement Society for there contributions to the event. Another big Thank you to all the people who showed up and worked enthusiastically to improve the Seymour River estuary.

Check out the District of North Vancouver Fire Fighter's charity page for their upcoming Annual Fishing Derby: https://dnvfirecharity.ca/ The Fire Fighters Charity have been instrumental in enabling our Gently Down the Seymour (GDS) education program for elementary school children in Greater Vancouver. We couldn't provide the GDS program without their generous support.

With World Rivers Day on September 27 rapidly approaching, the official trailer (link below) for the much anticipated film, Last Paddle; 1000 rivers, 1 Life has now been released. This inspirational and visually stunning documentary from the producers of RiverBlue chronicles the personal journey of renowned river advocate Mark Angelo who has paddled more than 1000 rivers in well over 100 countries; perhaps more than any other individual. Spanning the globe, the film chronicle...s Mark’s life-long commitment to river conservation, including the founding of BC and World Rivers Day. The film also delves into topics such as the impact of climate change on rivers, the reclamation of damaged urban waterways, and the importance of protecting the world’s great river environments, while also encouraging others to become river champions in their own right. The film’s global roll-out will commence soon, starting with the international film festival circuit. Last Paddle film trailer link - https://vimeo.com/442459484 See more
