Our local Alberta Health Services would like to remind everyone to practice good habits when gathering this weekend - and into the future. It's all of our responsibilities to reduce the spread of COVID-19. https://www.holyspirit.ab.ca//ahs_letter_to_students_about #hs4

Incredibly proud of our SF student Lauren and her family that are featured in this newly released commercial. The commercial showcases the historic family ranch that was established in the 19th century. We are continually amazed by the great work our students do in pursuit of their passions! https://youtu.be/MCx0hweSJCY

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who lived in a land of gloom a light has shone. (Isaiah 9:1) May we all be filled with the spirit of Hope as we begin our journey through Advent. #TransformedbytheJourney #IBelieveinCatholicEd #hs4

Beginning on November 2, there are updates to the daily COVID-19 symptoms checklist for children under 18. If your child completes the AHS self-assessment before November 2, these changes will not be reflected. For your convenience, here is the link to the checklist: https://www.alberta.ca//edc-covid-19-screening-questionair

All parents and staff are notified if there is a case of COVID-19 at their school. The health and safety of staff and students remain our top priorities. To kee...p Albertans informed, we’ve also launched an online map that shows the current status of COVID-19 in K-12 schools across Alberta. To be reported on the map, there must be at least 2 confirmed cases at a school within a 14 day period where disease could have been acquired or transmitted in the school. Schools are not listed if cases are not yet confirmed. The map is updated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We are exploring ways to expand reporting to include alerts that are sent out by schools where a single case has been identified who spent time in a school while infectious. Good afternoon St. Francis Family! I hope this email finds all of you keeping well and in good spirits. As you are already aware, Holy Spirit School Division has shared a short survey that gives parents a chance to express their thoughts, concerns and suggestions which will inform divisional decisions. One part of this survey asks parents to decide if they plan on sending their child to school in September or continue with an at-home learning program. To help parents make thi...s decision, we thought we should share new protocols that will be in place at St. Francis Junior High School which are attached. Obviously, we may see changes in our plans, and not every detail of our re-entry has been finalized. The protocols are subject to change as we adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our staff has been unable to review this document, so please consider it to be a draft. A finalized document will be sent out to parents before school starts. We want to assure you that we will be doing everything we can from our end to ensure that school is going to be a safe place to send your child. It will also be full of rich learning experiences albeit somewhat different from what we are traditionally used to. Additional information will be forthcoming by the end of the week of August 26th. We will endeavour to provide as much information as we can as re-entry items continue to evolve. We thank you again for your patience and understanding as we do our best to provide high-quality student learning during this challenging time. May God bless you, St. Francis, pray for us!

If you have not done so already, please take a moment to complete the divisional survey which will give all SF families a chance to share their thoughts, concerns and suggestions for the upcoming school year. Feedback is imperative in guiding decision making at the board level. Please ensure your voice is heard!

Grade 9 Farewell Information Good afternoon Grade 9 Students and Families, We are disappointed that the usual Grade 9 Farewell activities were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we think it is extremely important to celebrate the achievements of our Grade 9 students, say farewell to them, and wish them the best as they go off to high school. Therefore, we have come up with a plan for the Grade 9 Farewell that aligns with AHS guidelines to ensure students, parents, a...nd staff are safe. The Grade 9 Farewell will take place on Thursday, June 11th from 5:00-7:30pm. The staff will be hosting a drive-thru in front of the school along 18th St. South. A large screen will be placed in front of the school entrance where pictures from the past three years will be displayed as you drive through. A staff member will present the student with their cross and messages from St. Francis staff. We ask that only the student can exit the vehicle to receive their gift and the family remain in the vehicle to adhere to AHS social distancing and Holy Spirit guidelines. Each grade 9 homeroom class is assigned a timeframe where you can drive-thru the marked area in front of the school. We ask when the time frame is over and your child receives their gift, that families depart and allow for the next homeroom to enter the designated area so we can maintain the safety guidelines. We have allowed enough time for students to receive their gifts and say farewell to staff. Homeroom teachers will be in contact with their classes to set up a Farewell Zoom during the last week (June 15-19). Teachers will lead a Farewell Blessing and students will have an opportunity to watch the full Grade 9 slideshow at this time. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs.Kraemer at the school. Students who are unable to attend will receive their gift in the mail. 9BL - 5:00- 5:20 9PK - 5:20-5:40 9KD - 5:40-6:00 9JH/9 MCN- 6:00-6:20 9NS/CARE- 6:20-6:40 9LS - 6:40-7:00 9CH - 7:00- 7:20

It has been a beautiful #catholiceducationweek We have been so blessed to celebrate in so many different ways! Even though we are apart, our staff and students have come together in spirit. This week we challenged our students to a variety of activities: join us for mass with Bishop McGrattan, create art to brighten our community, wear #blueforcatholiced ,and create thank you messages for Father Kevin. Although most students were too shy to share their pictures in blue, we got some wonderful art, and beautiful messages for Father Kevin. Thank you to all our students, you are amazing! God bless and have a wonderful weekend. #HS4
