Back home after a long afternoon... First did the rounds to drop off the paper notice of this Wednesday's virtual Town Hall meeting with myself to discuss rece...nt Area D Director activities and the proposed 2021 Regional District Budget, as it relates to Area D.. Had no problems dropping off the meeting notices on the community bulletin boards at the south end of Robertson Rd and the McLeese Lake Transfer Station & the outside bulletin board at the McLeese Lake General Store Then drove to the community bulletin board at the corner of Soda Creek Townsite and Macalister Roads -- really icy but had no problems going down but got stuck on Soda Creek Townsite Road coming back up, just up from the 90 degree curve -- after trying and failing to move forward -- caved in and decided to call for help, courtesy of Downtown Towing (and thank you to the many people of Soda Creek Valley who checked in with their CRD Area Director to make sure that he was ok... ) - an hour later, Downtown Towing showed up and towed my car back to Highway 97 -- so $190 later and some wounded pride -- drove on to the Williams Lake Cut Off Road bulletin board and the bulletin board at the Wildwood Community Store to drop off my last two meeting notices And then check out a flood situation in Commodore Heights (Rankin/Pamela Place, then onto Richland Dr, over to Mile 168 Rd and then back home)... So now -- you all can laugh at me for my day.... lol (and it was going well until my drive down Soda Creek Townsite Rd lol)... Also -- great to see McLeese Lake's runner extraordinaire, Kate, showing us all the example of how to live a healthy lifestyle, even during the winter.... Now -- a glass of wine to drown my sorrows and a couple of bun sandwiches and then off to bed and for sure, a better night at work (Best Western).... SF

"An innovative treaty solution has put a First Nations band in the ranching business, and could result in similar deals in the future. The British Columbia prov...incial government last summer announced its $8 million purchase of ranch lands, Crown land range tenure, cattle, hay and equipment, for the Xatll First Nation, also known as the Soda Creek Indian Band. The purchase of the former Carpenter Mountain Ranch, brings the band as part of Northern Secwepemc te Qelmucw (NStQ) a significant step closer to reaching a treaty with the provincial and federal governments, Cale Cowan tells Canadian Cattlemen. Cowan is a spokesperson for the B.C. Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation" More at https://www.canadiancattlemen.ca//b-c-ranch-treaty-deal-/ SF

For those of you who live outside of municipalities (rural areas) and given my last post, here’s a picture to determine who is responsible for culvert maintenance. SF
