Introducing our seventh and last panelist for today’s event, Black Youth in Organizing, Danni Olusanya! Danni Olusanya is a fourth-year History major and Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice minor at the University of British Columbia. Over the years her efforts have been dedicated to leadership and community building. Last year she served as the Co-President of the UBC Black Student Union and simultaneously sat on the board of the Society for Canadian Women in Science ...and Technology. Currently, she is the Culture Editor at The Ubyssey, UBC's student newspaper and is the first Black woman to sit on the editorial in its 102-year history, she also sits on the interim executive of the UBC Black Caucus. We are thrilled to have Danni join us and look forward to hosting you all. A few spots are still available through the by donation tickets option. Meet our sixth panelist for the Black Youth in Organizing event, Arieyeh Timayo! Arieyeh (she/her) was born and briefly raised in Juba South Sudan before her family resettled in Canada almost twenty years ago. She studies Political Science at Uvic on unceded Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNE territory. Arieyeh finds joy when she is reading, being in nature and laughing with her friends. She is continually inspired by the many incredible black women in her life. Arieyeh does this... work because she believes in the possibility of a free-er, safer, equitable world. In the words of Adrienne Marie Brown, it is healing behaviour to look at something so broken and see the possibility and wholeness in it. Arieyeh currently volunteers as one of 9 co-organizers on the Black in BC Covid19 Fund. We look forward to hosting Arieyeh tomorrow! You can still secure your spot to join us here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/black-youth-in-organizing-ticke
