We're living through extraordinary times. The only true constant we encounter is change - so how can we shape and be shaped by it? Summer 2021's Semester in New Times imagines new frameworks for social transformation. The course is an invitation for you to consider the parallel journey of personal inner work and large-scale social change, to connect meaningfully in a time of isolation, and to think and plan together as a new era emerges. It's time to learn from the activists who've paved the way for future generations of human rights advocates. Shirin Ebadi is the first Muslim woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, as well as the first woman appointed as judge in Iran. Despite the many obstacles she's faced, she continues to dedicate her life to fighting for the causes she believes in, especially the rights of women, children, and political prisoners. She will join the SFU Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue and ...the Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies - SFU this Wednesday to talk about the hard-won lessons she has learned and to pass the torch to future generations of women advocates. Wed, January 27th | 12:00 pm PST http://ow.ly/yyzU50DhNml
