Always call Sarnia Coast Guard Radio when in trouble on the upper Great Lakes. VHF 16 and * 16 on cellphone. . Remember that a good marine insurance policy covers towing service as well as salvage, be sure to Read your insurance coverage /policies and ask questions. .

Some times you need a salvage company not a towing service. Remember that when in trouble on Georgian Bay always call Sarnia Coast Guard Radio on VHF channel 16 or dial * 16 on your cellphone. Most insurance policies have free towing . If your proplem is been passed on to the Canadian Goast Gaurd they will brodcast on VHF 16 so every boater in your area will know and most likely be able to help in some way. DETROIT RIVER IS NOW CLOSED TO ALL VESSEL TRAFFIC. www.BoatNerd.Com/News 12/2 - Detroit 3 p.m. update Harvest Spirit remains aground and all traffic in the ar...ea has stopped. The tug Manitou will be on site Wednesday afternoon to assist the grounded vessel. Traffic in the area has chosen to anchor rather than try to pass downbound in the Amherstberg Channel. The saltie Gardno tried to pass downbound Wednesday morning and reportly touched bottom, they proceeded to the Cholchester Anchorage in Western Lake Erie. The Ojibway Anchorage below Windsor has been approved for up to eight vessels, at 2 p.m. the tug New York, Federal Cedar and Algocanada were in the Anchorage. The Belle Isle Anchorage was filling up with the Atlantic Huron and Algoma Sault in place. The downbound saltie Jamno turned upbound and was headed back to anchor in the St. Clair River or Lake Huron. See more
