If you have an older computer and upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, the latest large Windows update might not work on your computer. The problem is that if you have the Windows 10 Home version there is no way to stop the update from coming through. It will try to update and fail part way through, and then it will try again. If you are having this issue please call or message me for a consultation.

Gift card scam warning. Beware if you are buying prepaid gift cards from Shoppers Drug Mart (or anywhere else for that matter). This was taken from a post on Reddit. "Bought a $150 prepaid visa from SDM a few days ago. Noticed today that the balance was empty, it was used to load up a Starbucks gift card in Vaughan. I didnt do that. After some googling, apparently this is a known issue with SDM. I have the receipt for the prepaid visa that I bought, the last 4 digits on th...e receipt do not match the last 4 digits of the card itself. Someone is stealing the cards, taking them out of their package, marking down the number, resealing the cards using a clamshell packaging device, putting them back up on the shelf, then waiting for someone to buy it and activate it. Could be a SDM employee themselves, who knows. If you ever buy a prepaid visa or any kind of gift card from SDM, make sure the last 4 digits printed on the receipt match the physical card and do it in-store!" See more

Too many passwords can be a pain, but choosing secure passwords is very important. Instead of using the same password for everything I recommend using a password manager. Disposing of an old computer? Make sure your drive is professionally wiped to ensure that your sensitive data does not fall into the wrong hands. Deleting files and folders and emptying the recycle bin is not enough. Call or message me if you have a computer to dispose of. I will wipe the drive and bring the computer to the recycle depot for you!

What is the best way to get more life out of an older computer? Upgrading the RAM is an inexpensive way of improving the performance of your computer. You can double the amount of RAM of your computer for under $100 and get a noticeable boost in speed and performance.
