This video demonstrates the difference between an unwatered tree and a watered tree. It’s also important to mention, the risk of fire is real for both scenarios! Please recut your tree and water frequently and don’t forget to test your smoke alarms! Also, have a great holiday season everyone.

The trucks have been having a sleepover in the new hall while the power and water services are being buried. We are response ready in case you were wondering! Look at those happy trucks.

We were lucky to get three firefighters off island for the weekend to attend live fire training. Being an essential service, and following the protocols set out by public health officials allowed these three to get their boots wet and their turnouts sooty. We were asked to provide more information to you about how our society board members are elected, and how the agm and voting will be handled this year considering Covid restrictions. Below is a copy of the letter sent to all current members of the society. If you are not a member, it’s not too late to get involved! Our board relies on volunteers just as much as the fire department itself. It’s a lengthy read, so without further ado here it is: The Board of Directors is li...mited to a maximum number of 10 members Three members are currently in the 2nd year of their 2-year term, leaving 7 positions to be filled. If you are interested in running for a position on the board please fill out the attached CONSENT to Nomination and return it to [email protected] by November 17, 2020. After all nominations have been received, a ballot will be emailed to all members which then can be returned in three ways: 1. Email the return ballot to [email protected] from the address you were sent the ballot. All member names that are attached to your email address can return a ballot. 2. Mail a copy of your ballot to SGVFD Society at 261 Georgeson Bay Rd. Your envelope must have your name and return address on it 3. Drop off your ballot at the fire hall. The ballot must have your name and return address on it. *Please note, if you want your ballot to be secret put your ballot in a blank envelope inside the addressed envelope. ** Any envelopes without a name and return address will not be counted. All ballots must be received by 4PM Dec 3, 2020 We realize that this is not a perfect solution, however we are trying to get through this as best we can. From the board of directors, With the rapidly increasing number of cases of COVID in BC, the SGVFD Society Board of Directors has decided to cancel the in-person AGM scheduled for November 14, 2020 and reschedule for a Zoom AGM on Dec 5, 2020 at 1 PM. Details of the Zoom meeting will be forwarded to members only by email at a later time.
