Well, I'm back, sort of, after a long summer hiatus with a post which is not about folk art or the antique business, per se but I believe relevant in that it deals with things old, and why I like them. I hope you enjoy it.
Now that spring is finally starting to make an appearance, how about a trip to Simcoe, or Woodstock Ontario to discover the legendary work of Woodstock artist, Ross Butler. If you like cows, he's your guy. Same goes for lovers of horses, chickens, and other barnyard animals. Check it out.
Sorry to hear of Louis De Niverville's passing. He was a great arisit.
Happy International Woman's Day!
Even if you don't know much about Quebec carving, chances are you have run across a carving from the town of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. Here is a short story about the three brothers who started it all. Medard, Andre, and Jean-Julien Bourgault. Enjoy.
I'm back. After quite a long hiatus I am back in the saddle. For those who might have noticed, thank you for your patience. Today I am writing about making contact with an very fine folk artist from Manitoba, Marya Zajac, whom we last communicated with in 1994. Please check it out.
This is the first great, don't miss, show of the year. Jeanine and I did it for years and always looked forward to the quality of the items presented, the camaraderie, and let's not forget the sticky buns. The temperatures will be rising by the weekend and there are no storms in site. So make plans to attend. You'll be happy you did.
