Day 9 on the Advent Calendar and Albert is our winner today... Looks like Shaggy, The Elf got into a little trouble overnight, guess he couldn’t wait for the residents today to make cookies... And of course the fun continued for our residents. Today we tried our hands in baking... Ginger Snaps was the recipe... The residents enjoyed themselves and there was lots of chatter and laughter... Cookies were baked and enjoyed for dessert after supper tonight...
We will be going live tomorrow December 10th at 6pm for our lighting ceremony! The mayor of Whiteway will be present to flick the switch, along with our local fire department truck and ambulance to light up the vehicles in support of our Christmas Hope campaign. Our residents are very excited about this. We ask that if any family and friends would like to join, feel free in doing so, we just ask you to remain in your vehicles as we will have to keep social distancing in affect! We will also have our food hamper present and will greatly accept any non perishable food items that we will be donating to Hearts Delight Islington Ambulance Services pack the back. Thanks again to everyone for your support and help!
Our annual Christmas party was a success... All residents had their pictures taken with Santa, who delivered a special gift from Shag Rock Manor to each and every one of them. They finished their evening off with a fine feed of Mary Brown’s chicken and chips, taters and salad... Another one in the Shag Rock Manor’s books and we would like family and friends to know, keeping our residents happy and well is always our upmost priority!! So now as Santa himself is kno...wn to say.... Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!! See more

Our residents had a very special visitor yesterday at their Christmas party and what a jolly ol elf was he!!
So it’s been a very hectic and fun few days here at Shag Rock Manor, Day 17 and 18 on the Advent calendar have come and gone and Ms Allison and Ms Norma delighted in a sweet surprise. And Shaggy, well he’s been quite the handful up to mischief and causing a bitta commotion... Suddenly he’s a pro with zip lining, one day Cpt Flying Underpants and today, he decided (or maybe had a little help from a certain resident) turning over all the other residents’ pictures in our front porch. We’ve questioned him but he’s not talking however, we think we have some proof that will prove otherwise!!! Also, we had our resident Christmas party yesterday filled with lots of music, love, laughter and a visit from the jolly man dressed in the bright red suit Those pictures and videos will be posted shortly, stay tuned
Just a quick little piece of info... Tonight on CBC 6:00pm Shag Rock Manor and all the Kirby homes will be featured on the news for our Lights of Hope Campaign

Visitation restrictions to residential care homes have been in place since March 23, 2020. It is recognized that this is very difficult for residents and families. In addition, delivering of packages or gifts has been eliminated in many homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mothers Day is a very special day and many families normally spend the day visiting with their mothers in residential care bringing gifts and cards. To celebrate mothers in residential care, homes will be a...ccepting gifts that can be passed along to residents. We will develop a process to accept gifts/cards and will arrange times for family to drop it off. The process should ensure that physical distancing requirements are met by avoiding large numbers of people dropping off gifts at the same time. Gifts will be delivered by staff of the home to mothers in the homes on Sunday May 10. Gifts may include flowers, cards, food and clothing and we will wipe them down when they are passed into to home. we know the mothers that are with us are going to certainly love this. See more
