Here is a little info from Dog Pawty Enjoy your walks Going on a walk can be one of the highlights of your dog's day. It's a chance for them to relieve themselves, get exercise, encounter new sights and smells, and of course -- to spend time with you!... But did you know there are ways to help your dog enjoy their walk even more than they already do? Here are 5 easy tips to improve your dog's walk today. :) 1. Don't rush bathroom breaks. Dogs use their urine to signal their presence to other dogs in the neighborhood, an activity that's important for their sense of well-being. Give your dog time to decide where to pee, and expect that they may want to stop multiple times to do their business. Shadow 2. Allow plenty of time for sniffing and exploring. Your dog's sense of smell is almost 10,000 times more sensitive than yours. And new scents are an important source of mental stimulation for your pup. So if they're eager to stop and investigate a smell, let them do it! Consider taking your dog on a different route to expose them to interesting smells -- even walking down a new block can be an adventure. Shadow 3. Train your dog so you don't have to pull their leash. You probably pull on your pooch's leash sometimes to get them to change pace or go in a new direction. But this can be confusing to your dog and hard on their neck. Instead, train them to keep a loose leash by stopping and changing direction whenever they get ahead of you. When they turn to catch up, reward them with a treat and praise. Only let them walk when the leash is slack between you. They'll soon learn to stay close, and you won't have to pull nearly as much! Shadow 4. Ask strangers to treat your dog the way you treat your dog. Many dogs love greeting humans passing by on the street. But it can be confusing to your pooch when those humans don't enforce the same rules you do. Don't be afraid to ask a stranger not to pat your dog until your dog sits, for example. Most people are friendly and will be happy to oblige! And your pooch will have a calmer and happier experience knowing that the rules you've taught them still apply outside the house. :) Shadow 5. Encourage socializing with other dogs -- but watch for signs of fear or aggression. Keep a close eye out to make sure your pooch is having a good time when they encounter other dogs. Ask the other dog's owner first to make sure their canine is friendly. Then watch your dog. If they're showing a tucked tail or are nervously yawning, it's time to walk away. If they're wiggling their butt or play-bowing, they're probably enjoying the happy socializing that can come with a good walk!

Dog Pawty https://d3k81ch9hvuctc.cloudfront.net//cad2ffb7-5e5b-45c0- Does this situation sound familiar? ... You've made a nice meal and are just about to sit down and enjoy it...when all of a sudden your eager pup comes begging for a bite! If your drooling dog keeps interfering with your dinner, here are 5 ways to stop your pooch from begging for table scraps. 1. Don't feed them from the table! It can be hard to resist your dog when they beg you for a bite. But if they know that you give in sometimes, it'll be extremely hard to stop them from begging. If you want to share some (dog-safe) human food with your pooch, put it in their bowl at their regularly scheduled mealtime -- not at yours! 2. Make sure kids and guests know the rules. You've worked hard to teach your dog that they won't be fed from the table. But if your kids or guests break the rule and slip them a little something, your dog may have to re-learn the lesson all over again! Let everyone know that your dog's begging shouldn't be rewarded -- no matter how cute they look when they're doing it. :) 3. Ignore them completely. Scolding your dog or shoo-ing them away when they beg might seem like the right thing to do. But dog behavior experts say that giving your pooch any attention at all when they're begging may actually convince them to keep trying! Try ignoring your dog completely when they beg. They'll get the message. 4. Give them a distraction. Does your dog have a favorite bone or a special toy? If so, try hiding it away for most of the day and only bringing it out during mealtimes. Your dog will look forward to playing with their special item while you eat...and they'll be much less likely to use that time for begging. (Our best-selling Puppy Einstein IQ Treat Ball is guaranteed to keep them entertained!) 5. Put them in their "place." If your dog has a bed or a crate where they sometimes spend time during the day, put them there before you sit down to eat. If you're consistent, you may find that your pup gets used to the rule and takes themselves to their place during your mealtimes! Another way to make sure your dog doesn't beg is to feed them at the same time every day. They'll be less likely to beg for your food if they know when their next meal is coming.

Your next walk with your dog will be so much more fun (and exciting) when you follow these tips. Trust us -- you and your dog will love them! It'll make your walks together even better. Hi Chyrlynn, ... This Friday is National Walking the Dog Day, and we're so excited! To celebrate, we found 5 great ways to spice up your next walk with your dog. :) 1. Take a new route. It's easy to get stuck in a rut on your walks. You go down the same streets, and your pooch stops at the same places to sniff and go to the bathroom...why not mix it up? Find a new route, especially one that'll take you out into nature. Your pup will love the unfamiliar sights and smells. And you'll have a fun new experience as well! Shadow 2. Change the pace. Try slowing down and giving your dog all the time they want to sniff, interact with other dogs, and explore their surroundings. Or, walk fast to give you and your dog more of a workout. And if you're a jogger, why not bring your pooch with you? (Our Hands-Free Adjustable Leash will help!) Shadow 3. Practice new tricks. Walking your dog is a great time to teach your dog a new skill or trick, or brush up an old one. Practice sitting or staying, or work on their fetch game. You can even reward them with a treat when they stay calm around other dogs. (Our Dog Treat Pouch is a great way to carry treats...and it'll hold your phone, keys, and extra doggie bags too!) Shadow 4. Bring a friend. It's so much fun to meet a dog-owning friend for a walk. You'll get to chat and catch up with your pal, and your dogs will get to socialize with each other! If your friend isn't free, you can offer to take their dog on a walk with yours. Or check to see if there's a shelter in your area that'll let you "borrow" a dog to accompany you and your pooch on a walk. This is a great opportunity to do a good deed for a shelter dog craving some time outside. Shadow 5. Document your walks. Walks can be a joyful time for dogs. Why not capture your dog in these carefree moments? Snap some photos of them on your phone, or take a "dog and me" selfie in front of a cool landmark or beautiful view. It's so easy to snap a quick photo...and it's a memento of your pooch that you might love to have five or ten years from now! (For an extra-special memento, display it in our one-of-a-kind Paw Imprint and Photo Frame.)
