Belly Fat - I shared this on my Instagram but wanted to share here too! I’ve had some DMs lately about how to lose belly fat, & the best exercises for melting belly fat; I’m answering here because it’s a complex issue! . The reality is you CANNOT lose fat from just one part of your body. Fat loss, when it happens, is an all-over event. You CAN tone & strengthen the muscles underneath the fat, but exercise alone will not get rid of belly fat.... -. Belly fat is often associated with your diet - what you are EATING & DRINKING. Extra fat in the abdominal area is associated with health risks, such as heart disease and diabetes. . If this is a concern for you, ask yourself: . 1. Do you drink alcohol? How much? 2. Are you eating refined sugars? 3. Are you eating processed foods, and packaged foods? 4. How many servings of vegetables do you eat in a day? . Some quick tips: 1. Make water your drink of choice. 2. Eat SO MANY vegetables! Aim for half your plate at meals to be filled with veggies. Aim for 5-10 servings of veggies per day . 3. Cut down on alcohol. 4. Cut down on packaged foods: crackers, cereals, snacks, even those labelled healthy. 5. Go for whole grains. 6. Make your meals from scratch as often as possible. ***Even organic and vegan packaged foods can still be high in sugar, fat and calories. ____________________________________________________________. Finally, remember that not every body will have or is meant to have a flat stomach and that’s ok!! . ___________________________________________________________. There are lots of exercises that can tone and strengthen your abs! Find what works for you! I love core exercises that also target the pelvic floor, especially using my 7 inch Pilates ball, and I have lots of past posts with my favourites!

I’m aiming to do a live Barre/Pilates class this morning around 9:15! The class will be in my Shaina Falcone Fitness Online Classes private group. It is my understanding that the class will be available in the group after it’s live. If you want to join the group and don’t have a current class pass with me, the cost is $12 for the rest of March, which you can etransfer me. I’m hoping to add at least 2 classes a week. ... I’m working on getting individual classes on my website, so stay tuned for that!
I’m sad to announce this but I think the best thing to do right now is cancel all classes in my Hubbards Studio for the next 3 weeks (or until it’s safe to meet again). I am going to try to start Facebook Live classes. If you have a class pass currently, this will just count as a class on your pass. If you don’t have a pass and want to join the class, it will $5 and I’ll add you to the FB group. Be patient with me as I try to organize this, as I’m also a full-time mom with ki...ds at home. I will do my best to start this as soon as possible. Also, my at-home Barre Sculpt program is now available for purchase at kdavisfitness so you can also join me there. Stay well and take care! October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I have joined #pikesforpink, a fundraiser to raise $ for breast cancer research. If you are able, please consider donating. http://convio.cancer.ca/site/TR .... Have you ever heard of epigenetics? It studies external factors that can influence our gene expression. We can’t change our DNA or our genes, but we may be able to influence the way they are expressed. Why am I bringing this up? Regular exercise and healthy eating may actually be able to influence gene expression, and switch off genes that would produce cancer cells. Alternately, lack of exercise and eating unhealthy processed foods can release chemicals that activate genes to turn on cancer cells. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~. Bottom line? Making healthy lifestyle choices gives you a leg up when it comes to disease.

No equipment and no crunches! After my 2nd son, my abs were really separated; abdominal flexion and crunches were ineffective and worsened my separation. So I found new, functional ways to train my deep ab muscles & obliques and strengthen my entire core! . SOUND ON for cues!
