The Town of Antigonish has been made aware of a recent scam in our community targeting customers of the Town of Antigonish Electric Utility. Residents are recei...ving text messages from an unknown number with information about overbilling and a link to an unidentified website. Customers will never be contacted by the Town of Antigonish Electric Utility via text message. All communications will be done via email at [email protected] or over telephone call from the Town’s Corporate Services Department. The Town is advising residents who receive text messages like this to ignore, block or report the number to their carrier. Town officials have contacted the RCMP to make them aware of this online scam. Text messages that customers have been receiving look like the following:

To help ensure your power is restored as quickly as possible, please check to see if the storm has caused damage to your meter mast (the tube that connects serv...ice to your home and electric meter). If your meter mast is damaged, you’ll need a certified electrician to make repairs before we can safely restore power.
