I recently did a workshop with @soulconnectionon and @purplelotus_love (thank you ladies so much for this experience) Funny story- I actually thought that I signed up to make a bracelet and was just wanting to support local and do something fun. It turned out to be so much more than that and I am so grateful. Today marks Day 27. And although I haven’t been consistent in my posting, I haven’t missed a day!!!... So what did I actually sign up for.... It started with learning that I was going to be making a Mala necklace of 108 beads plus a guru bead (Also called the Meru Bead which translates to Mountain Bead) , the Guru Bead in your mala is the 109th bead. It is not counted as part of the 108 beads. The Guru Bead is your teacher and it’s said to hold your prayers and intentions. The beads and Guru were as follows: Rosewood: supportive in spiritual healing, offers compassion and love. Labradorite: Useful through times of change and transformation, stone strengthens intuition promotes trusting the universe and stimulates imagination Rainbow Moonstone: A stone of new beginnings, enhances intuition, promote success in business and love Howlite: Calming , promotes patience, helps to relieve anxiety We created our own mantra / intention that we repeat 108 times, everyday, for 40 days. I learnt that once an intention is set for a specific mala necklace- you can only use that necklace for that intention. Wait....woah.... what’s happening here?!! A photo and I am not in workout gear??! shocking!!!! I actually do wear clothes other than leggings and tank tops, but if you think its dresses and high heels VERY rare occasions does that ever happen. Sweaters and jeans are a current upgrade and honestly I save jeans for special occasions which a far and few between these days. Anyone feel me here?! Actually, I was sort of stressing about getting my posts out this... month and what I wanted to show you on my Zyia OOTD Wednesday. I am a bit behind in my social content planning, the outfit I had planned to share...well...it’s in the wash and also I didn’t want to change out of my cozies. I also just bought some lighting umbrellas and I am totally clueless on how to use them which was leading to procrastination #noob Anyhow. All this to say that I am pretty sure I am wearing the most cozy sweater ever and decided that this casual moment is what I wanted to share with you. Sure, I probably should have downsized one but honestly- there is just something comforting about a big, soft, sweater.... don’t you think?! This twist starts off in child's pose and then we add some spinal rotation to it. Preparation: Kneel on the floor, buttocks over heels. Execution:... Take one arm and reach through the space between your upper torso and the floor so that you are laying on that same shoulder and your arm is resting on the floor Stretch your opposite arms overhead far as you can. You should also be lying on the side of your head looking towards the arm that is resting on the floor Let head and trunk sag to the floor and hang heavy Hold stretches a minimum of 30 seconds in a painfree range, longer if it feels good! I think that Christmas may be my favourite holiday I love decorating the house, getting a real tree, baking Christmas goodies, planning daily activities for the kids to make it extra special, I love gathering with family and friends over a home cooked meal, Christmas music, Christmas movies....I even love Sally, our Elf on the Shelf even though I often complain about her the entire month...the list goes on and on for me... What are some holiday traditions that you love!?

Today let's focus on something good...yep it's Friday, the best day of the week in my opinion, so that's something that brings me happiness but something else that brings me joy is seeing my kids first thing in the morning when they are still all cozy and warm in their beds. There is just something about that kind of peacefulness that always warms my heart and makes me smile.

Perhaps this is a lifestyle choice you have made or maybe you have been put into this position due to the current state of the world and you need to be home to care for the kids, maybe you are no longer able to work and therefore are home with the kids or maybe you are working from home and are trying to manage children at the same...regardless of your situation, this is your reminder to stand up- walk away from what you are doing and stretch, stretch with your children too!!! It's good for your mind, body and soul!!

Hopefully we get a little snow in Chatham, especially for the month of December! When it's not too cold and it looks like a snowglobe, I enjoy going for a walk and looking at the Christmas lights in the neighbourhood, maybe having a snowball fight with the kids, building a snowman or a snow fort.... Being out in the fresh air and acting like a kid again is a great way to get exercise and is great for your mental health so bundle up and ...get outside!!! No surprise here, another black sports top. I can't help it. I LOVE the colour black. Oh boy, do I know about tight hip flexors, too much cardio (aerobics based classes, running, cycling) and maybe a little bit of neglect in the stretching department sometimes (hey...we are all human!). These reasons, as well as prolonged sitting- maybe at a desk, or for long commutes/frequent travel time or maybe the current state of the world has you sitting more than you normally would-- all this can contribute to tight hip flexors. Tension in the hip flexors will not only cause pain in that area but is often associated with lower back pain, try this stretch in order to lengthen the muscles at the front of your hip and decrease strain on your low back. Hold the stretch for 30 seconds in a pain free range, you should be able to breath comfortably through the stretch.
