Great short read on fatigue vs depletion. Have you been feeling exhausted with this pandemic? Maybe it's more than just rest you need....https://lapininternational.com/leadership-blog/r-r/

We ALL have a beast inside of us. It tells us we are failing, we don't deserve love, we are not smart enough... Marsha explains how to tame it in 4 steps in her funny and informative video here: https://youtu.be/0l_CpPFoqnY

Wisdom I’ll often hear my clients tell me something that has stuck with them that I’ve said in a past session. I never knew my words had such impact. Every time this happens, I have to remind myself that people are actually listening! I’m curious to hear what the best thing your therapist has told you?! ... In my years of therapy, my big Ah Ha! moment came when my therapist told me that my over productivity was actually motivated by my anxiety! When I’m go-go-go, it’s often because I’m avoiding regulating myself. Ever since then, I’ve been able to notice when I’m non-stop, need to slow down, and that something is up with my feelings and they need some attention. What are some words of wisdom you’ve received from your therapist, manager, mentor, friend, parent, etc?! #besthingatherapistsaid #therapysession #wisewords #wordsofwisom #adviceworthlisteningto #hamont #activelistening #anxietytoolkit #sessionswithshannon #hamiltontherapist #torontotherapy #virtualtherapy #emdrtherapist @upworthy

Continuing Things feel a little different this year but so excited to still be part of #DisableTheLabel or #DTL2020. The New Mentality has been a near and dear part of my own mental health journey. Involved since 2010, I’ve spent time over the years in different roles advocating for #youthmentalhealth and am proud to be offering skills workshops to youth virtually this year! ... Can’t wait to connect with youth on this platform and continue to show up for our community, connect, be authentic, and have FUN! #youthadvocate #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthforyouth #cmho #virtualcommunity #letscheckin #hamont #youthvoicematters #youthskillbuilding #sessionswithshannon #DTL2020 #disablethelabel #tnm #healthyboundaries #beauthentic

Suffering Slow down. Be still. Connect. ... Feel. Acknowledge. "This is a moment of suffering." We are all in this together, but day-to-day, we regulate ourselves. At times, like right in this moment, I feel this weirdness in my chest. My anxiety, for days, has slowly been building. After a week of work I feel heavy. I feel weighted down. I question my abilities and thoughts begin to spiral around my "enoughness." I slow down. I sit in silence with myself. I raise my hands to my heart. I acknowledge my feelings and the suffering I am experiencing by saying "this is a moment of suffering." All of sudden, my tension lessons, I can recognize this is a temporary feeling. I can continue to soothe myself by asking myself, "what do you need right now?" And then I move when I am ready. See more

Earth Getting out and into nature is one of my favourite ways to self-care. It can be so incredibly grounding for our nervous systems to walk or sit and take in everything that Mother Earth has to offer us. I know for many of us, it has felt really unsafe to leave the house. For those without a balcony or backyard, getting outside might only be to go to the grocery store. I know that it can be scary, but there are ways to still experience all that nature has to offer... us by practicing safe social distancing, doing your part to walk down the correct direction of the sidewalk, going into the street if it is safe to do so to avoid another person, using sanitizer or wipes for your common spaces, and finally what we all know is best, washing our hands when we come home! I really encourage you, today of all days, to go spend some time breathing fresh air, listening to the birds, staring at the sky and the trees! Isn’t she beautiful?! #earthdayeveryday #naturelover #getoutside #selfcarematters #groundyourself #emdr #emdrtherapist #sessionswithshannon #gagepark #hamont #besafe #practicesocialdistancing #mothernaturerocks #nervoussystemregulation #hamiltontherapy
